INTRODUCTION
Last lesson in our month series of “The Power of the Holy Spirit”
Spirit is not an “it”. He is a person and member of the Godhead (Genesis 1:2, Luke 3:22)
The gift of the Holy Spirit is an indwelling, not a possession (1 Cor 6:19, Romans 8:9)
The Holy Spirit does NOT do anything contrary to God’s Word (John 16:14-15)
Today we will look at the Fruit of the Holy Spirit

Central Takeaway: The fruit of the Holy Spirit is the transformational evidence of our relationship with God, producing characteristics that reflect His nature and bring glory to Him.

2 areas to cover in today’s lesson
What is the fruit of the Spirit
How do I bare fruit of the Holy Spirit
Galatians 5:22–23 (ESV)
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
We must also look at the first word in this verse - the Conjunction - BUT
Galatians 5:16–17 ESV
But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.
Galatians 5:19–21 ESV
Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

How Do I Bare the Fruit of the Holy Spirit

Very important points to remember:
You are not a passive, uninvolved participant the production of this fruit
Your thoughts and actions are conscientious, deliberate, and determined in as you bare this fruit
In other words, you are not waiting for a special anointing, quiet whisper of a small voice, holy nudge, mystical push, or complete possession of your mind to produce the fruit of the Spirit.

LOVE

1 Corinthians 13:4–7 ESV
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Matthew 5:46–47 ESV
For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same?
To bare the fruit of love, sometimes God places difficult people in you life to deal with.

JOY

James 1:2–4 ESV
Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

PEACE

Philippians 4:6–7 ESV
do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

PATIENCE

James 5:11 NET
Think of how we regard as blessed those who have endured. You have heard of Job’s endurance and you have seen the Lord’s purpose, that the Lord is full of compassion and mercy.

KINDNESS

Ephesians 4:32 ESV
Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

GOODNESS

Matthew 5:16 ESV
In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

FAITHFULNESS

Hebrews 10:23 ESV
Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.

GENTLENESS

Philippians 4:5 NIV
Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.

SELF-CONTROL

But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.
CONCLUSION
