God is sovereign over this universe
God is in control of all aspects of life
God is King over all His domain
Yahweh is Almighty over His creation
Jehovah has absolute rule over all
Psa 135:6
Whatever Yahweh pleases, He does,
In heaven and on earth, in the seas and in all deep
Isa 46:9-10
“Remember the former things long past,
For I am God, and there is no other;
I am God, and there is no one like Me,
Declaring the end from the beginning,
And from ancient times things which have not been done,
Saying, ‘My counsel will be established,
And I will accomplish all My good pleasure’,
Psa 33:8-11
Let all the earth fear Yahweh;
Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him.
For He spoke, and it was;
He commanded, and it stood.
Yahweh nullifies the counsel of the nations;
He frustrates the thoughts of the peoples.
The counsel of Yahweh stands forever,
The thoughts of His heart from generation to generation.
The King of the universe is sovereign over all
His plans will not be thwarted, changed, nullified by humanity
When Adam in the garden sinned God already had a plan for that
The Father wanting to give His son a bride, a love gift chose those who would be it
Our lives God has a sovereign plan for and we are living it.
the question is do you really acknowledge God as the absolute King?

The Potter
V 1-4
Jeremiah was commanded to go to the potter
watched him at work
made destroyed and remade
the potter was in complete control over the clay
Clay is water and dirt.
then molded and and fired into a vessel
the potter has complete control over the clay
The potter does not have to ask the clay for advise
as for permission
the potter is Master and Commander of the outcome
V 5-7
God is the potter, Humanity is the clay
God has absolute power over humanity

Makes a shocking statement to our sensitive ears
O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the Lord,.... Make, and mar, and remake at pleasure? certainly he could. God is a sovereign Being, and has a sovereign and uncontrollable power over his creatures; he has an indisputable right unto them, and can dispose of them as he pleases; he has as good a right to them, and as great power over them, as the potter has to and over his clay, and a better and greater; since they are made by him, and have their all from him, their being, life, and motion;
God has this absolute right
He is King
The Clay
The Clay
we are not king, we are the clay
to be formed into who God wants us to be
God has made us tall, skinny and bald
or short round and hairy
He has made us musical, or dull
He has given us healthy bodies, or sickly bodies
He has made some for the Glory of His grace
and some for the glory of His Justice
When we acknowledge our King is sovereign
God has put us here and now in this place for a purpose
and God has made us to perfectly fulfill our mission
we an say with Isaiah
Isa 64:8
But now, O Yahweh, You are our Father;
We are the clay, and You our potter;
And all of us are the work of Your hand.
we can say you have moulded me perfectly for the mission you have called me to
you have given me the disposition, the attitude, skill, gifts of the Spirit
to be the one person in the world for this position
One more thing
God is the sovereign potter
we are the clay, he can do with us as he wishes
But God is our
Shepherd Potter
Shepherd Potter
As a shepherd he cares for his sheep
He loves them and makes sure they are well cared for
binds up our wounds
heals the brokenhearted
lifts us up out of the pig pen when we stray
comforts when we are insecure, and afraid
fills us with love, joy, peace, patience, and kindness
puts strength into us where we are weak
God the Father is molding us into the image of His son Jesus
what is our attitude toward our Potter
are we angry that we are made this way?
are we frustrated that we are not like someone else?
are our ministry is not like the one on tv another?
or are we ready to say
Sovereign Potter I am who you want
I am perfect the way you made me
I am in the place you want me
I want to do what you want me to do
