Intro

This is not going to be a normal sermon. After wrestling with this for about few weeks I have decided to split this sermon into up. But this first one will be a little different. It will more of a lesson that sets up my sermon for next week. It will not follow my normal format of a sermon. But more of a overview from what is going on. Then I will give you a few quick thoughts and we will go home. .
When understanding Eve we have to know that we are understanding our history. She is the tragic story that explains why we are in our currant situation. We can look at her life and say that all of our sin starts with her. She is the reason that we have to experience the scary thing that we call death. It starts with Eve being deceived. Not only does she represent the fall of man but she represents what we are. We can blame Eve but to really try to understand her then we will see that we are her.
Lets back up for a minute. Explain understanding God Program.
(After explain)
So to understand Gods Program is to understand our place in this. So when I look at Eve I do not look down her because she is the one that I understand more then anyone. Lets get into this. So what I want to do is break down this scripture then I will give you 3 points that can help you stay out of this type of situation.
Genesis 3:1–13 (NLT)
The serpent was the shrewdest of all the wild animals the Lord God had made. One day he asked the woman, “Did God really say you must not eat the fruit from any of the trees in the garden?”
“Of course we may eat fruit from the trees in the garden,” the woman replied. “It’s only the fruit from the tree in the middle of the garden that we are not allowed to eat. God said, ‘You must not eat it or even touch it; if you do, you will die.’ ”
“You won’t die!” the serpent replied to the woman. “God knows that your eyes will be opened as soon as you eat it, and you will be like God, knowing both good and evil.”
The woman was convinced. She saw that the tree was beautiful and its fruit looked delicious, and she wanted the wisdom it would give her. So she took some of the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it, too. At that moment their eyes were opened, and they suddenly felt shame at their nakedness. So they sewed fig leaves together to cover themselves.
When the cool evening breezes were blowing, the man and his wife heard the Lord God walking about in the garden. So they hid from the Lord God among the trees. Then the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?”
He replied, “I heard you walking in the garden, so I hid. I was afraid because I was naked.”
“Who told you that you were naked?” the Lord God asked. “Have you eaten from the tree whose fruit I commanded you not to eat?”
The man replied, “It was the woman you gave me who gave me the fruit, and I ate it.”
Then the Lord God asked the woman, “What have you done?”
“The serpent deceived me,” she replied. “That’s why I ate it.”
The first thing that the serpent does is say is that really what God said? See he comes in like is just trying to clarify what God has already told you. This can be a way to disarm you. When the enemy comes he is not always going to come with brass knuckles and knifes. He is cunning and suffistcated. Ready and waiting patiently to make a move. Not only that but he is calculative on who he can use. So many times we have heard stories about people having trouble in there marriages because of what friends or families have said. This is because the Devil is a good devil. He is a great at his job. So we have to be on the look out for Satan but more importantly who He is sending.
Of coarse we can eat from the tree. Notice he says we. This is the allusion that we are in this together. He does not want Eve to see the big picture. He wants her to focus on us. This is a common problem with Christians today. We take the focus off of God and put the focus on ourselves.
Eve tells the sepernt that if you even touch it you will be dead. This tells us that she is aware that God has made the rule clear.
The serpent informs her that you will not die. How many times have people in this world done the samething to you. Tried to tell you the things that are in the word of God are either to out datted to be right of

1)We have to trust Him

That is were Eve failed at. She did not trust that the Lord has given her all that she needs. Imagine being in Eden and feeling like you need more. Even with all that was provided for her she was pursuing more. There are so many people that just want more. One thing that I have heard a lot of lately is that God wants you to be Happy. This is not the truth. That is what our desire for our own kids. God wants us to be with him in Haven and to bring as many people as possible. We care more about our happiness then God does.

2)Don’t ignore the intimidate red flags

If some one contradicts the Word they are leading you away from the Lord, destiny, and saftey. It was not about what was best it was about what he was offering. v 4 The first thing the serpent does is call God a liar. There people on this line that will say if my mom tells me this or my dad or husband or wife then it is gospel. You cant change my mind. And if you try to cause in mess between us then I will cast you out.

Often it does not take long for someone to show there true motivation. Why did Eve miss that? The same reason we all do. Because we do not have our guards up. Or because we are focusing on what we want instead of what God has provided. This is why we let people sneak mess into our marriage, this is why we let people cause mess into our relationship, etc

3)We can walk away from distractions. You cannot cover up wrong from God.

But the moment I sense what you represent now I can walk away from you. Because you are not good for me. You are not being an instrument for the Lord in my life. You have become weapon form against me, you are a weapon formed aginst my sainity, you are a weapon formed against my marriage, you are a weapon formed against my relastionship, you are a weapon formed against my peace, my hope, my spirituality, my Godly desires. And you shall not prosper.

Conclusion

Eve is us. The difference is that we can look at eve and know what happens if we dont chose the Lord.
