Job 4

Job 7:17 (NKJV) 17 “What is man, that You should exalt him, That You should set Your heart on him,

            Psalm 8:1-3 (David in joy)
Psalms 8:1 - 3 (NKJV) 1 O Lord, our Lord, How excellent is Your name in all the earth, Who have set Your glory above the heavens! 2 Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength, Because of Your enemies, That You may silence the enemy and the avenger. 3 When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained,

            Psalm 144:1-4 (David in distress)

Psalms 144:1 - 4 (NKJV) 1 Blessed be the Lord my Rock, Who trains my hands for war, And my fingers for battle— 2 My lovingkindness and my fortress, My high tower and my deliverer, My shield and the One in whom I take refuge, Who subdues £my people under me. 3 Lord, what is man, that You take knowledge of him? Or the son of man, that You are mindful of him? 4 Man is like a breath; His days are like a passing shadow.

Both in joy and distress, Job and David recognized God’s greatness.

Bildad speaks:

8:2:     Job’s words are like hot air

8:3:     God is obviously judging Job because he has sinned.

8:4:     Job’s children were killed because of their sin

8:6:     Job is not as righteous as he claims to be.

Job responds

9:1-12:            Who can stop God from doing what He wants to do, who has a right to question God?

Daniel 4:35 (NKJV) 35 All the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing; He does according to His will in the army of heaven And among the inhabitants of the earth. No one can restrain His hand Or say to Him, “What have You done?”

Isaiah 43:12 - 13 (NKJV) 12 I have declared and saved, I have proclaimed, And there was no foreign god among you; Therefore you are My witnesses,” Says the Lord, “that I am God. 13 Indeed before the day was, I am He; And there is no one who can deliver out of My hand; I work, and who will reverse it?”

Isaiah 45:9 (NKJV) 9 “Woe to him who strives with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth! Shall the clay say to him who forms it, ‘What are you making?’ Or shall your handiwork say, ‘He has no hands’?

Romans 9:18 - 20 (NKJV) 18Therefore He has mercy on whom He wills, and whom He wills He hardens. 19You will say to me then, “Why does He still find fault? For who has resisted His will?” 20But indeed, O man, who are you to reply against God? Will the thing formed say to him who formed it, “Why have you made me like this?”

9:13-14:          Job says that he is not self righteous, but is powerless against God

9:20:               Job says that he cannot justify himself. In fact, no man can justify himself, that is the work of God.
