This Is What the Bible Really Says About Sex, For Those Who Are Wondering
When it comes to the Bible and sex, you might be surprised to learn some of what's in the Holy Book. From procreation to pleasure, here's what the Bible really says about sex.
God wants us to procreate.
In fact, one of the first things God says is instructing Adam and Eve to procreate.
Genesis 1:28 NASB 2020
28 God blessed them; and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
"Be fruitful and multiply."
Other verses in the Scripture — like Psalm 127:3 and Genesis 9:1 — also highlight how joyful it is to create and raise children. God created relationships and sex because he wants us to grow our families and produce more people who reflect his image.
Psalm 127:3 NASB 2020
3 Behold, children are a gift of the Lord, The fruit of the womb is a reward.
Genesis 9:1 NASB 2020
1 Then God blessed Noah and his sons, and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth.
But sex isn't just about procreation.
Although followers of God have been instructed to "be fruitful and multiply," sex isn't meant solely for procreation.
It's meant to be a joyful, intimate experience between partners.
Genesis 2:24 NASB 2020
24 For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.
What does it mean to "become one flesh"?
Obviously this refers to physical intimacy, but it also suggests that within a relationship, two peoples' hearts and souls can become so intertwined that they effectively become one.
They share in all the joys and pains of life. What affects one also affects the other.
You might be surprised, but parts of the Bible are pretty steamy.
Take for example, Song of Songs:
Song of Solomon 7:7–10 NASB 2020
7 “Your stature is like a palm tree, And your breasts are like its clusters. 8 “I said, ‘I will climb the palm tree, I will grasp its fruit stalks.’ Oh, may your breasts be like clusters of the vine, And the fragrance of your breath like apples, 9 And your mouth like the best wine!” “It goes down smoothly for my beloved, Flowing gently through the lips of those who are asleep. 10 “I am my beloved’s, And his desire is for me.
Similarly, Proverbs 5:18-19 encourages people to physically appreciate their partner.
Proverbs 5:18–19 NASB 2020
18 Let your fountain be blessed, And rejoice in the wife of your youth. 19 Like a loving doe and a graceful mountain goat, Let her breasts satisfy you at all times; Be exhilarated always with her love.
The bible also says that we shouldd have sex often!
1 Corinthians 7:5 NASB 2020
5 Stop depriving one another, except by agreement for a time so that you may devote yourselves to prayer, and come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.
Sex is Good.
Sex is Holy.
Sex is sanctified.
Sex is normal.
Sex is neccesry.
But for many coup[les sex can also be difficult.
That is what this session is about: Sexual difficulties.
Painful Sex in Women (Dyspareunia)
Intercourse pain, or dyspareunia, can cause problems in a couple's sexual relationship.
In addition to the physically painful sex, there is also the possibility of negative emotional effects. So the problem should be addressed as soon as it arises.
What Causes Painful Sex in Women?
In many cases, a woman can experience painful sex if there is not sufficient vaginal lubrication. When this occurs, the pain can be resolved if the female becomes more relaxed, if the amount of foreplay is increased, or if the couple uses a sexual lubricant.
In some cases, a woman can experience painful sex if one of the following conditions is present:
Vaginismus.
This is a common condition. It involves an involuntary spasm in the vaginal muscles, sometimes caused by fear of being hurt.
Vaginal infections.
These conditions are common and include yeast infections.
Problems with the cervix (opening to the uterus).
In this case, the penis can reach the cervix at maximum penetration. So problems with the cervix (such as infections) can cause pain during deep penetration.
Problems with the uterus.
These problems may include fibroids that can cause deep intercourse pain.
Endometriosis.
This is a condition in which the tissue similar to that which lines the uterus grows outside the uterus.
Problems with the ovaries.
Problems might include cysts on the ovaries.
Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID).
With PID, the tissues deep inside become badly inflamed and the pressure of intercourse causes deep pain.
Menopause.
With menopause, the vaginal lining can lose its normal moisture and become dry. Intercourse too soon after surgery or childbirth.
How Can Painful Sex In Women Be Treated?
Some treatments for painful sex in women do not require medical treatment. For example, painful sex after pregnancy can be addressed by waiting at least six weeks after childbirth before having intercourse. Make sure to practice gentleness and patience. In cases in which there is vaginal dryness or a lack of lubrication, try water-based lubricants.
Some treatments for female sexual pain do require a doctor's care. If vaginal dryness is due to menopause, ask a health care professional about estrogen creams or other prescription medications. Other causes of painful intercourse may also require prescription drugs.
For cases of sexual pain in which there is no underlying medical cause, sexual therapy might be helpful. Some individuals may need to resolve issues such as guilt, inner conflicts regarding sex, or feelings regarding past abuse.
For men:
Erectile dysfunction (impotence) is the inability to get and keep an erection firm enough for sex.
Having erection trouble from time to time isn't necessarily a cause for concern. If erectile dysfunction is an ongoing issue, however, it can cause stress, affect your self-confidence and contribute to relationship problems.
Problems getting or keeping an erection can also be a sign of an underlying health condition that needs treatment and a risk factor for heart disease.
If you're concerned about erectile dysfunction, talk to your doctor — even if you're embarrassed. Sometimes, treating an underlying condition is enough to reverse erectile dysfunction. In other cases, medications or other direct treatments might be needed.
Causes
Male sexual arousal is a complex process that involves the brain, hormones, emotions, nerves, muscles and blood vessels. Erectile dysfunction can result from a problem with any of these. Likewise, stress and mental health concerns can cause or worsen erectile dysfunction.
Sometimes a combination of physical and psychological issues causes erectile dysfunction. For instance, a minor physical condition that slows your sexual response might cause anxiety about maintaining an erection. The resulting anxiety can lead to or worsen erectile dysfunction.
Physical causes of erectile dysfunction
In many cases, erectile dysfunction is caused by something physical. Common causes include:
Heart disease Clogged blood vessels (atherosclerosis)
High cholesterol High blood pressure
Diabetes Obesity Metabolic syndrome — a condition involving increased blood pressure, high insulin levels, body fat around the waist and high cholesterol
Parkinson's disease
Multiple sclerosis
Certain prescription medications
Tobacco use
Alcoholism and other forms of substance abuse
Sleep disorders
Low testosterone
Psychological causes of erectile dysfunction
The brain plays a key role in triggering the series of physical events that cause an erection, starting with feelings of sexual excitement.
A number of things can interfere with sexual feelings and cause or worsen erectile dysfunction. These include:
Depression, anxiety or other mental health conditions
Stress
Relationship problems due to stress, poor communication or other concerns
Risk factors
As you get older, erections might take longer to develop and might not be as firm. You might need more direct touch to your penis to get and keep an erection.
Complications resulting from erectile dysfunction can include:
An unsatisfactory sex life Stress or anxiety Embarrassment or low self-esteem Relationship problems The inability to get your partner pregnant
So lets talk about making sex easier:
Toys:
1: Lubricant.
Men: You not less of a man if your wife needs lubricant. It does not mean that you dont “turn her on”.
2: The Dildo
3: The fleshlight
4: Just for fun.
Key: Mutal consent and only used together.
