Acts 2:41-47English Standard Version
Acts 2:41 So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls.
Fresh Start

Acts 2:42 And they devoted themselves to:
Devoted - to persevere devotedly v.— to persevere in some activity or cause to the point of devotion.
Four Commitments of Church Life:
1. Teaching - the apostles’ teaching (Acts 2:42) and
a. Old Testament Scriptures and accounts of Jesus’ life and teaching (Acts 2).
b. Eventually the writings of the apostles.
2. Fellowship - the fellowship (Acts 2:42),
a. Meals - to the breaking of bread (Acts 2:42) and
i. Acts 2:46 And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts,
1. Large group & small groups – the temple and in their homes
a. Acts 20:7 On the first day of the week, when we were gathered together to break bread, Paul talked with them, intending to depart on the next day, and he prolonged his speech until midnight.
b. Prayers - the prayers (Acts 2:42).
i. Acts 2:43 And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done throughthe apostles.
1. Acts 3
c. Generosity (Acts 2:44-45)
i. Acts 2:44 And all who believed were together and had all things in common.
ii. Acts 2:45 And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need.
1. Acts 5:1 But a man named Ananias, with his wife Sapphira, sold a piece of property,
2. Acts 5:2 and with his wife’s knowledge he kept back for himself some of the proceeds and brought only a part of it and laid it at the apostles’ feet.
3. Acts 5:3 But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back for yourself part of the proceeds of the land?
4. Acts 5:4 While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not at your disposal? Why is it that you have contrived this deed in your heart? You have not lied to man but to God.”
5. Hebrews 7:8 In the one case tithes are received by mortal men, but in the other case, by one of whom it is testified that he lives.
3. Worship - praising God (Acts 2:47).
a. Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
4. Discipleship - and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved (Acts 2:47).
a. Matthew 28:19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
b. Matthew 28:20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Hebrews 10:25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
