Servicio Humildo
As we continue you need to remember to keep 4 generations in mind. If you remember;
Entonces
Generation 1; You need to invite a more mature believer to help you grow in your faith
Generation 2; You grow on your own journey
Generation 3; You take the hand of someone who needs to grow in their faith
Generation 4; You educate and equip that person to live in the same manner and they help others grow in Jesus Christ.
Can you see it? 4 generations. Someone is helping you, your’e helping someone else, that person is helping someone to help others. This is discipleship.

How Do I Extend Humble Service in a Selfish World?
The main idea for that you need to know for today is this:
Jesus left the glory of heaven and came to serve us with His own life. His disciples joyfully serve their Savior, His church, and the world He loves. When we care like Jesus, the world sees a vision of the servant Savior and is willing to hear our stories of who Jesus is and how He loves.
John 1:14 says … “the Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us”
Jesus came into our world to live, suffer, die and give His life for our sins was the ultimate act of service in the history of the world.
This is WHY we serve. When you understand who Christ is, what He has done, when you understand the profoundness of the truth of the bible you end up surrendering your life to Christ and you are transformed by the holy spirit. You recognize the fallenness of mankind and it’s need for a savior. You understand that it can ONLY be by GRACE that you are saved. Your eyes are opened to the ways of God and you begin to sacrifice your old ways not because you are told to, but because you understand that putting off the ways of the flesh, removing your selfish desires and replacing them with the desires of God will bring Joy and peace to your life and those around you.
You become a new creation and it’s like a fire in you that makes you want to share the truth of the bible with others. AND IT’S POWERFUL. It’s literally the ONLY reason I’m here. I truly believe that the transformational power of the truth of Jesus Christ is what we need in our neighborhoods and our cities. I’ve said it once before but you can give a person who is chained to sin everything they physically need to be free BUT if they refuse to see the truth of God they will stay enslaved. It is a spiritual battle we are in and it is why we serve. We serve to save souls, to save the lost. We hope all hearts will be open to receive the truth of our savior Jesus Christ
There is SO much more I can say and in much greater detail BUT we’ll save that for another day. In short, in order to care like Jesus we must have the motivation to do so and now hopefully you do.
Let’s look at some examples of Jesus serving and his motivation for doing so.
John 13:1–4
This is Jesus, the son of God, the messiah, our creator kneeling down and washing dirty feet. This was the job of a servant. Those who received a footwashing were almost always the social superior of those who washed feet. But it’s even more profound because he also washes the feet of Thomas who he knows will doubt him, he washes the feet of Peter who will disown him three times and he washes the feet of Judas who he knows will sell him to the Romans where he will ultimately be sacrificed on the cross.
Mark 10:45
For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.
If Jesus had a mission statement, this would be it.
Jesus came to
Heal the broken
Free those in bondage
Serve the unworthy
Die to give us life
To Grow as a Disciple is to Increase Each Day in Service!
Jesus was clear. He has served us. Now we are to serve others.
John 13:12-17
Jesus served His disciples so that they would understand their calling. To be like Jesus, to grow as a disciple, is to increase in humble service with each passing month and year of our life.
We find deep and lasting joy and blessing when we learn to serve like Jesus. We are His servants and when we embrace this aspect of our calling and identity, we learn what life is meant to be.
What does a servant's life look like?
It is about noticing real needs.
It is about cross-carrying. - laying down yourself verse
It happens in our home.- how we treat those closest to us. If you can’t unconditionally love those closest to you how will you do that in the world.
It is a neighbor thing. - it’s about helping facilitate a neighborhood that glorifies God.
It is connecting to your church family. - growing together, as iron sharpens iron verse.
Think about these questions
Who has been an example of humble service in your life and how have you seen Jesus through the life of this person?
Who has God placed in your life that needs humble service from you?
How does serving others help you grow in faith?
How does serving non-believers reveal the presence, power, and love of Jesus?
How Does Humble Service Open the Doors of Heaven?
Matthew 5:14–16
Humble service reveals the heart and presence of Jesus
When we are serving other unto God we are reflecting the glory of God. We become a bright light that attracts those around us . This is what we want this church to be. We want this church to be a bright light on top of a hill reflecting Gods grace, mercy, and truth to all those who see us. And then we want them to ask why?
When we serve unconditionally, especially in a very self centered world, people wonder why.
Our acts of service, when offered with humble and loving hearts, can cause non-believers to ask us why we serve our community, the church, and even people who have no interest in the message of Jesus. When they ask why, we can tell them about, Jesus, the One who served us through His incarnation, life, and death on a cross.
May we serve humbly unto God no matter where we are. Whether we are at work, school, home, in public, or at church. May the light of Jesus Christ, through the power of the holy spirit shine brightly in your life to those around you.
May you care like Jesus so that the world may see a reflection of the Savior and is willing to hear your story of who Jesus is and how He loves.
Let’s pray
God we pray that each person in our congregation would recognize how Jesus has served each one of us to the point of giving his life on the cross. We pray that our hearts grow in the desire to serve others as Jesus has served. God give us opportunities to serve and to converse with others that we may show them your truth. God make this church like a lighthouse on hill reflecting your glory for all to see. Amen.
