Stephen Was an Approved Minister (6:1-7)
Stephen Was an Approved Minister (6:1-7)
Stephen was a faithful servant. He was selected by the early church (the congregation) as one who was able to faithfully meet the needs of the widows in the church.
Acts 6:3, He had a good reputation, was full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom.
He was full of faith - meaning his trust was placed in the Lord.
Wisdom and faith operating in combination make an effective servant of the Lord.

Stephen Was a Bold Messenger (6:8-7:53)
Stephen Was a Bold Messenger (6:8-7:53)
Not only was Stephen full of faith and wisdom, he also bold. The Lord used him to work miracles and people were coming to faith through his witness. The enemies of the Gospel could not “resist the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spoke.”
Because of his witness, jealous men bribed false witnesses to lie about him.
Be careful whenever who hear the words, “I heard” or “anonymous sources.” These are tricks used by the Father of Lies to discredit faithful witness.

Stephen Was a Christian Martyr (7:54-60)
Stephen Was a Christian Martyr (7:54-60)
His sermon brought conviction and anger to his accusers.
He was was stoned, but his death was a testimony to Christ’s life.
He saw the risen Lord.
Like Jesus, he forgave his offenders.
His death made an impression that would last upon Saul.
Stephen received the crown of life (like his name). Rev 2:10 “Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and for ten days you will have tribulation. Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.”
