What do you see?

To some extent this is the question of the day.

Change happens!

We may not like it but change will happen. We truly cannot stop change. We may be able to influence change but we cannot truly control it.

Transformation is a choice!

Though we may not be able to choose change we all have a choice when it comes to transformation. Paul is encouraging his readers, and us today, to choose transformation.

Transformation is a process.

This choice will lead to a process. It will not happen overnight. Sometimes, the longer the transformation journey the more it sticks around.

Transformation starts with God’s mercies.

There is some debate about “which” of God’s mercies Paul is talking about, chapters 9-11, the whole book, etc? The answer to some extent is all of the above. If we cannot see what God has done through Jesus we are incapable of starting the process.

We must submit to Jesus & His process.

We do not get to dictate how this goes.

We must integrate body & mind.

This is not just a spiritual exercise. We cannot separate and compartmentalize different areas of the process.

How and what we think is important.

The word for “true, reasonable, etc” invokes and evokes our rational brain. Our faith is not irrational and is not just “spiritual” or “a blind faith”. Yes there are times when following Jesus does not “make sense” but it is not divorced from our brains, ever.

Transformation leads to grace and growth.

God’s will is pleasing, good and perfect. When we submit to the transformation process we will get more grace and the ability to know God’s will.

What do you see?

Do you see the hope of transformation or the pain it may cause? Do you see the beauty of the rain?
