1 Corinthians 2:13 ESV
13 And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual.
1 Corinthians 2:13 NIV
13 This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words.
Thesis/ Central Idea:
Take account of your spiritual condition by understanding the truth, then comply with the fact to know your reality.
Introduction:
You know their is spiritual realm all around us and we are unawares
In our limited knowledge and arrogance we think we determine what is real and what is not
There is a reality that exists beyond any humans ability to create or sustain
We are sojourners and discoverers in a reality we do not control and yet participate in for better or for worse
This reality will expose our hearts
whether we want to live being with the Creator of this reality or
to continue to live being fooled by a temporal existence in the physical, carnal, existence we have now
What Is Your Reality???? lets; begin by understanding...

Spiritual Things are More Real than Physical Things

Man in his physical state is merely dirt
without the spirit man is not a living being, he is merely dirt, dust from the ground
he is not a participant in reality
we learn the following from the book of Job...
Job 34:10–15 ESV
10 “Therefore, hear me, you men of understanding: far be it from God that he should do wickedness, and from the Almighty that he should do wrong. 11 For according to the work of a man he will repay him, and according to his ways he will make it befall him. 12 Of a truth, God will not do wickedly, and the Almighty will not pervert justice. 13 Who gave him charge over the earth, and who laid on him the whole world? 14 If he should set his heart to it and gather to himself his spirit and his breath, 15 all flesh would perish together, and man would return to dust.
once again without God’s psirit we do not exist as living beings
the spirit makes things real
the spirit causes and allows one to participate in reality
consider what James adds to this discussion...
James 2:26 ESV
26 For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead.
the body apart form the spirit is dead
spiritual things are more real than physical things
when the physical is gone and comes to termination, the spiritual will remain
[With this knowledge shouldn’t we consider where we are at spiritually, in reality…]

Taking account of where you are Spiritually

Let us first understand that spirit and truth go hand in hand
spirit = truth = reality
John 16:13 ESV
13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.
Man discovers truth
Man does not create truth
Man can participate in truth
Truth does not exist because man has determined it, he only discovers it, and reacts or responds to it
Our knowledge of truth can separate us onto a reality of considerable benefit
John 17:17 ESV
17 Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.
It is the word of God and one being in that word where reality can be our advocate or our torment
The spirit is truth and testifies to the realities which can benefit our living being existence
1 John 5:6 ESV
6 This is he who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ; not by the water only but by the water and the blood. And the Spirit is the one who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth.
In taking account where you are at spiritually ask yourself some tough questions
Are you still carnal?
Are you still operating in your first nature?
Does your truth originate with other carnal beings?
Is your truth objective or is it subjective?
In other words is your truth objective such as 1+1=2, or subjective 1+1=5 when you feel like it...
Subjective truth is perishable, it only exists as long as you fool yourself into thinking it is true
Objective truth is true even when you don’t like it and fight against it
Keep that in mind while we listen to Paul’s admonition in 1 Corinthians...
1 Corinthians 15:42–49 ESV
42 So is it with the resurrection of the dead. What is sown is perishable; what is raised is imperishable. 43 It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power. 44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body. 45 Thus it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being”; the last Adam became a life-giving spirit. 46 But it is not the spiritual that is first but the natural, and then the spiritual. 47 The first man was from the earth, a man of dust; the second man is from heaven. 48 As was the man of dust, so also are those who are of the dust, and as is the man of heaven, so also are those who are of heaven. 49 Just as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the man of heaven.
pay close attention to verse 46
To take account of where you are at spiritually you must be able to know when and how did you move from the natural to the spiritual
[Humans cannot move from physical to spiritual, no more than they could have breathed into their own nostrils to become a living being…]

Where you are Spiritually is your Reality

Your reality is based on your position and condition in that which is spiritual and true
You must listen and obey spiritual truth in order to progress spiritually...
1 John 4:6 ESV
6 We are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of error.
If you are still natural, if you haven’t obeyed spiritual truth
your reality is headed to destruction, you are in error and need to make a correction...
1 Corinthians 2:14–16 ESV
14 The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. 15 The spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one. 16 “For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.
living in a human, fleshly, carnal, physical way is a reality of personal gratification and spiritual suicide...
1 Corinthians 3:1–3 ESV
1 But I, brothers, could not address you as spiritual people, but as people of the flesh, as infants in Christ. 2 I fed you with milk, not solid food, for you were not ready for it. And even now you are not yet ready, 3 for you are still of the flesh. For while there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not of the flesh and behaving only in a human way?
Conclusion:
You refuse to accept the second Adam
You are still bent on what justifies the flesh
what looks good; feels good; sounds good
You continue to believe in the majority rule of man to make his own destiny
You believe that science is the last word, not realizing that science doesn’t say a thing only men using science as a back drop to make a hypothesis which is merely an educated guess
You close a blind eye to why you even created, why you exist
You don’t even know who you are
Your reality should be destination heaven, yet you refuse the truth
Your reality should be that God can bring about good in any bad situation you are in
Your reality should be within the ark of safety the body of Christ, yet you refuse the spiritual truth of being baptized
Your reality should be walking in the light as He is in the light, but you love darkness and the way of man
Your reality should have Jesus as an advocate, yet you have decided to refuse His counsel and handle your own case
If you have had your heart pricked today, why not change your reality
make your calling and election sure
Realize that spiritual things are more real than physical things
Take account of where you are spiritually and do what is necessary to make a positive change
Know that Your Reality is determined in accordance with your relationship with your Creator, your Savior, and your guide
hear the invitation to the reality of all realities
Invitation -
God’s Plan of Salvation to change your reality...
