Descriptions of Haman

I. His Person.

Haman the wicked. Esther 7:6
The Hebrew value of the letters: 666 (Revelation 13:18)

II. His Power.

He has a meteoric rise.
He outranks all his contemporaries.
A decree is given that every knee should bow to him.

III. His Pride.

Hear him brag. Esther 5:11
See his conceit. Esther 5:13
Look at his plan. Esther 6:7-9
He wants to ride the king’s horse.
He wants to wear the king’s clothes.
He wants to wear the king’s crown.
He wants to hear the people’s applause to him.

IV. His Purpose.

He is called the “enemy of the Jews”. Esther 3:10; 8:1; 9:10, 24
He is called an “Agagite”. Esther 3:1, 10; 8:3, 5; 9:24
Agag was a territory next to Media.
Agag was a king of the Amalekites. (1 Samuel 15:8)
The Amalekites were descendants of Esau. (Genesis 36:12)
Amalek is always Israel’s enemy. (Exodus 17:16; Deuteronomy 25:17-19)
There was to come a Star out of Jacob, a Sceptre out of Israel which should bring destruction to Amalek. (Numbers 24:17-20)
Christ will smite the Antichrist (2 Thessalonians 2:8)
The “man of sin” will be a modern day Haman.

V. His Plot.

He wanted to annihilate the entire Jewish race.
He works through his political power so that they suffer. (Esther 3-4)
The Antichrist will be the “evil prince” of Daniel 9.
He will plunge the Jews into “great tribulation” by political betrayal. (Daniel 9:26-27)

VI. His Predicament.

While he was in power he was terrible, but only lasted a short time. (cf./Esther 2:16; 3:17)
One day he exalts himself the next day he hangs by his own rope.
His children were hung with him. (Esther 9:7-14 cf./Revelation 20:11-15)
