Introduction:
Introduction:
Good morning, for those of you who don’t know me, my name is Todd. I am one of the pastors at this church - Arlington Baptist Church.
Does anyone know what this is? (hold up Bible)
Ok, it’s a Bible… but what is it? (ex. God’s Word, law, story of Jesus, etc.)
What about this… should you believe it? For those of you who said yes… why?
Well… that’s the question I’d like to answer today - Why trust the Bible?
Expound
Today we’re going to answer this question using an apologetic approach. Apologetics means “to give a defense”
Here’s the thought process
Does the God of the Bible exist?
Did Jesus raise from the grave?
Did Jesus affirm and empower the writing of the Bible?
If the the God of the Bible exists, then it’s possible Jesus is God. If Jesus rose from the grave, then Jesus is God. If Jesus is God, then we can trust what He says about the Bible. If Jesus says that the Bible is authoritative, inherent, clear, necessary, and sufficient, then we must trust Him.
Let’s start with the big question...
Is it probable the God of the Bible exists?

Now… we obviously can’t prove that God exists in a tangible way. That would eliminate faith. But we can show that it is more than probable that God exists. And not just any God, but the God of the Bible. I’ve got three arguments.
1. Cosmological Argument (what created the Universe?)

Have you ever thought about that? What created everything?
All science tells us that the Universe had a beginning - and something must have caused that beginning right? What’s more probable - something created the Universe or nothing created the Universe?
Something! It makes logical sense and most non-Christian arguments would agree. But let’s look at the characteristics of this “something”
3 things came into existence at the same time: time, space, matter. So whatever created the Universe must be timeless, spaceless, and immaterial.
Simple, without parts - expound
Personal - in order to choose to create
Powerful - to bring all things in to existence
Now… let’s pause there and move to our second argument...

This argument is simple. When you see something intellectually designed - you assume that something/someone designed it
Imagine you’re walking on the beach and you find an iPhone (illustration)
Given that the world clearly has design, whatever created it must be intelligent
This leaves us with the final argument...
