According to the Plan

Heb. 8:5

Hebrews 8:5 They serve a copy and shadow of the heavenly things. For when Moses was about to erect the tent, he was instructed by God, saying, “See that you make everything according to the pattern that was shown you on the mountain.”

Acts 7:44 “Our fathers had the tent of witness in the wilderness, just as he who spoke to Moses directed him to make it, according to the pattern that he had seen.

The command – not ONCE but three times:

Exodus 25:40 And see that you make them after the pattern for them, which is being shown you on the mountain.

 Exodus 26:30 Then you shall erect the tabernacle according to the plan for it that you were shown on the mountain.

 Exodus 27:8 You shall make it hollow, with boards. As it has been shown you on the mountain, so shall it be made.

Moses OBEYED… 

 Numbers 8:4 And this was the workmanship of the lampstand, hammered work of gold. From its base to its flowers, it was hammered work; according to the pattern that the Lord had shown Moses, so he made the lampstand.

David’s charge to Solomon on building the Temple…

 1 Chronicles 28:19 “All this he made clear to me in writing from the hand of the Lord, all the work to be done according to the plan.”

1.  It is GOD’s purpose / plan / building –

2.  We NOT know the purpose / plan –

a. the temple = a ‘picture’ of Heaven… but Moses did not know, changing to his own plan would be out of ignorance…

3. So with the CHURCH and following Christ

1. We to follow the plan – the word of God…

2. We are the greater priesthood / temple / sacrifice… 

3. Worship is regulated of God..  not chosen by men.

4. ‘warned of God’ – seen in Acts 11:    ‘called’ Christians ..  

Pattern – ton tupon – used in Acts 7:44, 

Cp. Romans 6:17 -  obeyed from the heart that ‘form’ of teaching…
