6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
This verse describes the qualities of God’s grace demonstrated through the Messiah.
Jesus is the Messiah - the Christ
And, according this this verse AND his ministry, Jesus is the Prince of Peace.
Man was made by God in such a way that he can only be at peace within himself when he is at peace with God.

He is the dispenser of peace; the administrator of peace; and the sustainer of peace.
1 Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
2 Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
What does the Peace of God Give to us today?

Justification
The act of God in bringing sinners into a new covenant relationship with himself through the forgiveness of sins. It is a declarative act of God by which he establishes persons as righteous—that is, in right and true relationship to himself.

The doctrine of justification by faith alone affirms the thoroughgoing sinfulness of all persons, their total inability to deal effectively with their own sin, and the gracious provision through the death of Jesus Christ of a complete atonement for sin, to which persons respond in simple trust without any special claims or merit of their own.

17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”
The act of God’s grace and mercy exchanges the burden of sin and punishment for peace with God.
So, what did Jesus do to bring about this great exchange?
17 And he came and preached peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near.
Through Christ’s teachings, he has given peace.
14 For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility
Flesh: Christ’s bodily death on the cross.
A great many people are trying to make peace, but that has already been done. God has not left it for us to do; all we have to do is to enter into it.

Confidence
The result of God’s grace and mercy is fellowship with God. And, with God we have confidence.
2 Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
Assurance of God’s grace we can stand firm.
Trust in God’s promises we can stand firm.
Obedience in God’s authority we can stand firm.
7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Within the peace of God we will discover joy.
2 Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
Peace with God brings in hope of the glory of God.
11 You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
Peace with God means to be in His presence.
16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Conclusion
Christ alone can bring lasting peace—peace with God—peace among men and nations—and peace within our hearts.
