This evening I would like to spend a few minute talking about the light in the night.
Who is this light and why do we need to focus on him?
So if you have your bible go head and turn to John 1:1-14.
If you do not have a bible thats ok you can follow along on the screen in a few minutes.
Before we look at this passage this evening.
I would like you to think for a moment.
Do you like the dark?
Most of us would say no we hate the darknes.
We turn lights on every chance we get.
In fact there is not many place left were there is not some light pollutions.
Mostly far north and parts of the western USA
Take a look at this map.
Some of us are afraid of the dark.
If your not, then you are at the least very uncomfortable with being in total darkness.
This two map show how much we really on light in our cities.
We light our road at night which help to see in the dark.
Then there the unnecessary light pollution.
Which I am totally guilty of.
It the string lights in the up in the backyard and turning them on most every night without even going out there.
Why do we really on the light to push the nights back?
Why do we want more light and less darkness?
Light brings confront to us.
When the light shines it helps us see whats right in front of us.
You see Jesus can be that light to you.

God finally answer the prays
In your Bible, the last prophet you will find is Malachi.
Turn the page and you’ll find yourself in the New Testament book of Matthew.
In that simple page turn, four hundred years passed.
That space represents four hundred years when Israel dwelled in darkness, waiting on God to speak to them again.
He spoke again when he announced to a virgin (Matthew 1:18; Luke 1:26–38) that the Messiah was going to be born!
The Word became flesh
John begins his Gospel by recreating the format and phrases of Genesis 1.
By doing so, he is teaching believers many things about Jesus.
One of those lessons is that this Word made flesh is God (John 1:1, 14).
In the incarnation, God took on a human body in the person of Jesus Christ and entered his creation.
When God did so, the light of the world entered the darkness (v.
5).
Light is a theme in this verse
3. Light is a prevalent theme in John’s opening verses.
The word “light” shows up seven times in the first nine verses.
Jesus’s life is light to humanity (1:4).
The light is more powerful than the darkness (v.
5).
John the Baptist was a witness to the light (v.
7) but was not himself the light (v.
8).
Rather, Jesus is “the true light” that illuminates everyone and everything (v.
9).
The Light entered the world
When the light came and lived among us.
It gave us a glimpse of the glory of God.
The glory of God is many things, and one of those is a beautiful, powerful light.
At the end of the Bible, John is given another vision of the glory of God.
This time it is God dwelling with his people in the new Jerusalem.
In that place, night will no longer exist, and no sun is needed, because God’s presence is enough to illuminate everything (Revelation 22:5).
On Christmas Eve, Jesus gave us a glimpse of this future light.
Jesus is the Light
We do not have to be afraid of the dark.
We do not have to be fearful of whats to come.
Because Jesus is the light of the world.
He is the king of king and lord of lords.
Will you allow Jesus to shine is light into your life?
Jesus is a light in the darkness, now and always.
