1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 He was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men.
5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

(T) So John begins by laying out who Jesus was in eternity past, but now he describes the action that we were looking for that displays his love…we’re going to jump down to verse 14.

14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

THINK: VULNERABLE HUMAN BABIES…CROWN of CREATION…BUT MOST VULNERABLE at BIRTH...

MADE all NATURAL LAWS, WORKS TOGETHER PERFECTLY....
BECAME A VULNERABLE, HELPLESS BABY...

HE GAVE UP GLORIES of HEAVEN for YOU & ME
MAJESTY of HEAVEN...
PAVED STREETS of GOLD...
CREATED SEA of EMERALD GLASS...
CREATED all of HEAVEN…HIS ABODE...
LEFT IT ALL BEHIND for US!
NOT to BECOME CONQUERING KING…but BABY...
MANGER in STABLE....
DWELLING as SOJOURNER…EXILE… DWELT = TENTING/CAMPING
IMMANUEL....GOD WITH US, LITERALLY!!

16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
Jesus Christ came into the world to display the Father’s love for us… a message too precious to be delivered second-handed!!

John saw Jesus rejected by most Jews…(V11)
but he said:
John 1:12–13 (ESV)
12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God,
13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.
(Q)...What will you do with this? Do you believe?
GOOD NEWS (Christmas) only good IF he’s SAVIOR...
1st advent- humble baby...
2nd advent- conquering king, (Every knee bowed & tongue confess, wanting to or not)
IN BETWEEN, we HAVE OPPORTUNITY to RESPOND, to receive him...

Don’t know Christ- put your faith & trust in him - Lord & Savior...
SAVED by HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS imputed…through FAITH by GRACE alone!
NOT WORKS, not goodness, through CHRIST ALONE...

Know Christ? - THANKSGIVING during Christmas season…
GREATEST GIFT = person, Jesus Christ…don’t lose sight of this.
Our God loved us so much he didn’t stay afar off…he became like us…he came down to meet us when we couldn’t reach him…and then he died for us, that we could be ransomed from our sins and saved from eternal separation from the God who loved us...
This season is all about him and what he did for us, what he gave up in heaven to be with us, and we don’t want to forget this…
