Christmas is about sharing.

We share gifts under the tree. Meals with others. We share what we want to receive and also what we gave. Kids especially will share about their “new toy” and sometimes all their disappointment in the item they did not get.

The Christmas story is filled with messengers.

Typically angels, God’s messengers, announcing the Good News to those who need to hear it. Yet, we know their role is really limited.

We are God’s “new” messengers.

We see this in our story as well. Shepherds “spread the word” just re-telling all God has done.

Christmas is about going.

Mary and Joseph go to Bethlehem. The magi journey from afar. The shepherds travel into town. Mary, Joseph and Jesus go to Egypt. Herod stays put in his palace but sends out others to do his horrible deed.

Christmas is about telling.

We tell God’s story. Jesus has come to save us from our sins.
Galatians 4:4 NIV
But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law,
Romans 5:6 NIV
You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.

Christmas is about sharing.

We share these stories to all.
Romans 10:14–17 NIV
How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” But not all the Israelites accepted the good news. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our message?” Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.

Let us go and tell!

This is our task. We who believe in the true meaning of Christmas must now go and tell others the Good News which is for all people. Jesus the savior has been born and he died for our sins. He was raised form the dead proclaiming his sacrifice is the final sacrifice for all.
