CALL HIM JESUS \\ \\
*Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
Then Joseph her husband, being a just/ man/, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.
But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.*
Matthew 1:18-25

I have been thinking and have come to the conclusion that salvation is wrapped up in 2 words basically.
.   .
Powerful faith.
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; .
.   .
Romans 1:16

The Bible says again in the book of Hebrews chapter 11 and verse one

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
And again in verse 6

But without faith/ it is/ impossible to please/ him/: for he that cometh to God must believe .
.  .
Hebrews 11:6

Faith means trust completely, implicitly no matter what situation may present before your eyes.
Faith trust because of what love is and what love has done!
I have been thinking and have come to the conclusion that eternal damnation will happen (anyone who is lost will be because of the opposite of powerful faith).
Unbelief, doubt!
For example look at the atheist that exist on this planet.
They don’t care or believe in God therefore they live accordingly in unbelief.
But as we know just a mere belief in God won’t work either the Bible says the devils belief and tremble.
In other words there are people in this world, in this country, in this state, in this city, in this church who believe that God exist but they still for whatever reason work on the Sabbath, still poison there God given lungs with tobacco.
Hang out with people who are poison.
Then there are others who believe in God but not only do they not have faith  but they don’t have the power to follow God.
I want to suggest to you this morning that’s why concerning the baby the angel told Mary and Joseph, it’s also why my subject is entitled “Call Him Jesus” Let us pray .
.  .

18 Now the birth of /u/Jesus Christ/5/ took place in this way.
/v/When his mother Mary had been betrothed/6/ to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child /w/from the Holy Spirit.
19 And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling /x/to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly.
ESV

Mary according to biblical scholars was about 12 to 14 years of age and Joseph was at least 18 to 20 (and a widower at that).
He had a wife who died.
The Bible says that His mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph.
Well back in those days was different, it wasn’t like today.
If you were engaged it was like you were married.
I’m told that betrothals were so binding that if a woman’s fiancée died she was considered a widow.
As a matter of fact in those days if you were engaged it could only be annulled by divorce.
Marriages were arranged through contracts and during the betrothal period the parties would be considered married even called husband and wife.
In the betrothal period the woman (after the contract was signed) went back to live with her parents and the man with his for one year.
After the year was over the man would come and get His bride if she was faithful and they would consummate the marriage physically at his home as they began to live together.
If during this time period the woman was found to commit adultery back in old testament times this offense was punishable with death by stoning

But during the time of Joseph and Mary the most likely of scenarios was that the woman would be divorced and shamed.
In other words news would be voiced aboard of her infidelity to the satisfaction of the groom and his family.
The one-year waiting period demonstrated the purity and commitment of the bride.
It was during this period that Mary was found to be with child.
The fact that the Bible mentions that Joseph wanted to divorce her privately is a tribute to him.
(some folk would have said “Na you’re not doing that to me and get away with it!)
Thank God for Christian husbands and Christian men!
But the Bible says

20 But as he considered these things, behold, /y/an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.
21

Did you ever stop to think why God waited to let Joseph in on the pregnancy until after the obvious?
Apart from the fact that it shows what kind of man Joseph was .
.  .
I believe that the Lord wanted to distinguish the fact that this was not the son of Joseph but the Son of God.
The religious leaders of His day tried to pass a story that Jesus was born illegitimately.
Joseph would not have married her if he believed that!
He was told
21 She will bear a son, and /z/you shall call his name Jesus, /a/for he will save his people from their sins.”
How does a worm get inside an apple?
Perhaps you think the worm burrows in from the outside.
No, scientists have discovered that the worm comes from inside.
But how does he get in there?
Simple!
An insect lays an egg in the apple blossom.
Sometime later, the worm hatches in the heart of the apple, then eats his way out.
Sin, like the worn, begins in the heart and works out through a person’s thoughts, words, and actions.
Satan laid an egg in the fruit of unbelief and Adam and Eve eat it all up.
That worm was passed on through generations until you and I wound up with it.
Sin eats up folk alive.
It consumes them with passion, greed, selfishness, fear and depression, hopelessly and resentment!
Joseph was told in the dream to call Him Jesus, Mary was told by the angel Gabriel to call His name Jesus.
Back in those days Jesus was a common name
(Aramaic /Yēshua//˓,/ Greek /Iēsous//)/
The name literally means “God is salvation!”
Christ which is His title means anointed Jesus Christ literally means Anointed Saviour.
You got a worm this morning there is a solution!
His name is Jesus!
Both Mary and Joseph were told call His name Jesus, Call Him Jesus

And Matthew adds in verse 21 of chapter one
For it is He or literally the Greek says He is the one who will save His people from their sins!
Not save them in their sins but from their sins!
He is Saviour!
Saviour – doubt, fear, pettiness, prejudice, passion, lust,

He’ll save us from pride, self-righteousness, foolishness, non biblical harmful traditions, carnal intimacies, extreme opinions,

Save us from peer pressure, idiotic mentalities, bad influences, get rich quick philosophies,

He’ll save you from discouragement, depression, hatred, Greed, deception, duped, Loneliness, naivety, addictions, weakness, trouble Jealousy and covetousness.
Now you can ignore the fact that the worm is at work if you want to but God said call Him Jesus!
You can go about ya business with the worm inside you.
You can yap and fuss and talk all you want about the hypocrites in the church but the worm is still inside you!
You can say you ain’t coming now and the worm is still inside you messing you up!

21 She will bear a son, and /z/you shall call his name Jesus, /a/for he will save his people from their sins.”
22 /b/All this took place /c/to fulfill what the Lord had spoken

This means God had a plan for fallen humanity a long long time ago!
I told you before that the name Jesus Christ means Anointed Saviour!

Which means this is the one and only plan of salvation which was wrought from the foundation of the world!
We got a computer from a individual for our church.

This is genuine article, certified from glory.
This is the only solution!
