6 For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
He Came UNTO US
Isaiah Prophesied hope to those in turmail about 700 yrs before Jesus was born
He spoke of a coming Messiah
Begins with the words....UNTO US
Words so intimate
The purpose of Christ’s coming was for “us.”
For every generation, those long gone and those still to come
For every person, the broken & hurting, the successful, those raining their fists toward heaven, those that bow in worship
The Son was given
Jesus did not happen upon earth. From eternity God planned to “give” him. Jesus is the Son of God. Jesus existed eternally as the Son.
The Fathers Love was poured out unto us through the gift of His Son.
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
Even though He was the SON of God Jesus came in humility
He could have come any way
Jesus didn’t come with militant might , but as a baby, a servant, born in a lowly manger.
6 Though he was God,
he did not think of equality with God
as something to cling to.
7 Instead, he gave up his divine privileges;
he took the humble position of a slave
and was born as a human being.
When he appeared in human form,
8 he humbled himself in obedience to God
and died a criminal’s death on a cross.
9 Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor
and gave him the name above all other names,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.
And the government will be upon His shoulder
Jesus will reign as King Jesus King of the world. The government of the entire world is on his shoulders.
AS the World gets darker the majesty of Jesus shines brighter
And His name will be called Wonderful
exciting wonder : marvelous, astonishing , EXTREMELY GOOD
When he came he was a wonder. He transcends human understanding. He is unique among human beings. He stands supreme above everyone else. His name is wonderful because he is wonderful.
And His name will be called… Counselor
Jesus reveals the mind of God. He counsels us from God’s perspective. He gives God’s council.
Wisdom for life
And His name will be called… Mighty God
He is God almighty. In Him dwells all the fullness of the Deity in bodily form (Colossians 2:9).
Power is in His name
Redemption is in His name
Healing is in hIs name
Authourity is in His name
And His name will be called… Everlasting Father
This is better translated “The Father of eternity.” All the ages meet in him (Hebrews 1:2).
Jesus has secured our eternity through His deathn and ressurection on the Cross. Through Him we have peaxce witgh the Father.
He is in heaven prep[aring a place for us
He is coming soon to take us home
And His name will be called… Prince of Peace.
The name “Prince of Peace” is the Hebrew Shar Shalom, which means “the one who removes all peace-disturbing factors and secures the peace.”
24 ‘May the Lord bless you
and protect you.
25 May the Lord smile on you
and be gracious to you.
26 May the Lord show you his favor
and give you his peace.’
