Philippians chapter 2.

Philippians 2, and I think the verses on screen start at 3, I'm going to start at 1. Just cuz I like to see that look on Becky's face.

First one said, so if there's any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from Love and he participated in the spirit Any affection. Sympathy complete my Joy by being of the same mind. Having the same love being in full of cord and of one mind. Mystery do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit but in humility count others, more significant than yourselves. That each of you look not only to his own interests but also to the interests of others. A five says, have this wind among you yourself which is yours in Christ, Jesus. He'll know, he was in the form of God's not count equality with God. A thing to be grasped but he emptied himself by taking the form of a servant being born in the likeness of men being found in human form. He humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him. The name that is above every name. So that in the name of Jesus, every knee should bow in heaven and on Earth and under the Earth. Every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord for the glory of God, the Father Probably. Can we come before you this morning and we asked the Lord for your guidance and your spirit Lord to direct

Ali. Pray, Lord that you would stir your spirit inside your beloved even now.

Father, be hard one heart. That doesn't know you this morning. Well, I pray Lord that they would come to the end of themselves.

On great. Humility. Lord, may we all come before you this morning.

All the way or so grateful. but what you have done for each and every one of our hearts, May we live in that state of gratitude. Write it all in your son Jesus name. Amen. The last Sunday night. William we started with We'll look at wonderful counselor on for a few minutes before we sang so beautifully. I did anyway, and I just got to thinking I was going to do this next weekend but this is one of my favorite verses. This particular section, speaking on the Incarnation of Christ him coming down here as fully God and putting on human form. One of those things that makes my head kind of, if it wasn't cloudy already even more cloudy. That's hard for me to fully comprehend, especially with all the different things that he did while he was here. But to be both things at the same time, you can use all kinds of I'm, you can try to use examples, you know, like I have different titles. You can you get off of a pastor, father? I'm out cold, but it just doesn't come close to anywhere near really saying, what God did, For us in Christ, when you really stop to think that he had to leave the heavenlies in the fullness of his glory and everything that he was that he did that in the Angels, didn't know when it was happening. They didn't know that part either. They didn't know how it was all coming down. They didn't understand it. Infects scripture tells us and Peter that they still don't comprehend the Grayson and what he did for us to fully comprehend it because, well, it's a lot to take in. But the Incarnation of Christ, the Incarnation is Define this way. I thought we could do this. So the assuming by God, of human nature in the person of Jesus Christ, the Incarnation is the fixed and permanent physical dwelling of God in his world. As opposed to Temporary manifestation of divine presence and power and a theophany. All right, so I know big words that start with e in the morning. You like, what did he just say? So theophany is what they call when Christ is in the Old Testament and he appears in human form, it will save the angel of the Lord, that's Jesus Christ. They call that a theophany. So if you ever hear that word again, you can throw it out and tell him to just say Jesus Christ in the Old Testament and the New Testament, it's not at the office anymore because he leaves the heavenlies and he comes and he puts on this thing. That's what he puts on this human form. As soon as this is the Incarnation of Christ, this is him taking on human form to live amongst us to to live a life. Well in a way that we could never live for ourselves. So the idea this morning is to take these verses and and around the Incarnation of Christ and really see what it was that Christ did for us on, what is it to take on this human form? What did he, what do you leave behind on? What did he do? While he was here? And in all those things, pretty much packed into a nice little pretty bow around the Incarnation. But what it does for you and I that makes us, I pray that we would stop for this. Just this moment this morning. And realize the humility of a Christ. On our part for us. He didn't have to leave the heavens. He didn't have to put on. The humanity. He didn't have to be born in that manger and do all the things that babies do and, you know, and grow up and you didn't have to do that. He did it for you. Because you knew you couldn't. Cuz he knew you couldn't be obedient. I knew you couldn't be obedient to the father. He knew that that you would send against the holy and righteous God, he knew that that would be who you were and that there would be darkness and you needed light.

So this miracle of the Incarnation to us is, well, it's extremely important. Now the brush is started off with in within first one. So if there's any encouragement this is Paul talking to church. So if there's any encouragement Christ, any comfort from love of any participation in his Spirit, any affection, and sympathy complete my Joy by being of the same mind. Having the same love being in full of chord of one mind. So he starts off with this picture. He says, if any any, any comfort and its participation affection, sympathy, all these things, we complete and we find the same mind all together under the same cross on the same. Jesus Christ. it's why when We Gather there is not a hierarchy There isn't, I don't have that little color thing, and I won't the Salvation that my heart desperately needed was the same that your heart desperately needed when we talked about our lives and, and, and how we're walking through our lives. Well, I'm in the same battles that you're in, your you, maybe further down the line, you may been walking the Lord for 20 years, but you're still in the same battle, you're in the same mind, we're in the same Accord because the same Christ doesn't change, you didn't get part of it when I got the other part and then I got to help you out. That's not it. I got all of him. I got everything everything I need in him and it's all that we are all on the same mind. So he says in verse 3, do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit in humility. Count others, more significant than yourself, Let each look to not only to his own interests, but to the interests of others. And he says, hi this mind among yourselves. So what are you saying is The humility that it took for the Lord to come down and to put on human flesh. Is our example. And then you and I have to live a life down here of one of humility of being humble. Well, how can we not be humble? We're Christians, right? I mean, we're Christians. I got to be humble or I'll tell you all about it now. So you have to be humble if you really look at the cross, if you really look at Christ in, you really understand that he came down and that he put on flesh for you. You didn't do it for him. You did nothing for him, except for bringing sin and lay it before him and he pay for your ass. And so there's nothing that we bring. And so, when we think about the humility that it took for him to put on human flesh, in the come down here in the be amongst us since you not be. Well, we'll talk about what he emptied himself up in just a minute. But but not to be well in the fullness of his glory and everything that there is in him. Any did that for me? So it's really hard. It should be any way for me to be pretty easy for me to humble myself before others to think of others interest before mine to try to see where they are. Because well, I didn't save myself. Call mrs. Sometimes I can get a big head. Now I have a wife and kids to help that. That that mean, it's not believe, God firmly gave me those things for that, I have friends that can say things to me that well, I pray that I listen to and I'll humbly listen to

But humility can be a challenge for everyone in this room.

We can get to the point where

we think we might be somebody. Or be something that we're not.

Run to the gracious hand of Our Lord. It just can't be, it shouldn't be any way. Me a great way to check on how humble you are. Is, have someone tell you what's wrong with you. You know, talking about they say something to you. And you blow up. You either get lash back out and point some other direction or somebody else's fault or you just tell him how bad they are. That's the easy one. When you know what you did.

None of those things are of Christ. Would you be able to hear if you've always had a meeting this week? And I, and I said, what they were going to have a meeting with someone? And I, and I said, well, this question, first question is is, are they redeemed? And if they know the Lord, then, secondly, you should be able to speak with him. You guys should be able to talk if you would have talked about things that that pertain to a person's life and they should be willing to listen, it doesn't mean that your magical change in a heartbeat and wiggle your nose or something like that. But are you willing to listen? Are you willing to listen to your heart? Cuz that means, that's what we did. When we came to the Lord to Noah. Over the very first, we came before him there. And we said, I looked in there and there was Darkness, I've looked in there and it wasn't what I thought. I wasn't good, and I'm not good in any way. And we all go to the same exact Christ. The same exact one who put on flash and live for us. And emptied himself.

Look at verse 5.

Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus. Did though he was in the form of God did not count equality with God. Nothing to be grassed. But he emptied himself by taking on the form of a servant being born in the likeness of men. Now. Another scriptures that speak to this, this humanity and deity, all being in one place. Human form and being fully God, the same exact time. John one said in the beginning, the word was, and the Word was in the beginning, was the word and the Word was with God. And the Word was God. Jesus existed before time, began, he's always been, right? But yet somehow he was born. Did that a mess? Your head up right there, right? I'm come on. He's always been. He's always existed as God as the Triune God, but yet the same time, he was born into human flesh and is humanity. Both of those things are absolutely true. So he's existed before time began but that day on on that day on his birth was the first time that he took on this form as that baby in that manger. Why he wasn't born at 30 wasn't, you know, he didn't just come show up at 30 years old, live for 4 years and then go away. He did it because he had to go through the experiences that you and I experience we had to do without sin. With no sin. Amongst him. No sin in him. Had to be obedient unto the father, every step of the way.

So this Triune God, this this Trinity of God, the Father God, the son, God the Holy Spirit, did not all of a sudden in that moment. When Christ is born in that manger cease to exist, He is still fully God, even though when he's that baby that, you know, you can hold in your hand. He still God just taken on the form of man. Now he didn't exchange. The other thing is very important. I understand he did not exchange his duty for his Humanity. Does not like he exchange it and just said okay well I'm just going to leave that behind and I'm going to be this. No he didn't do that. He was both and at the same exact time. He had to carry both of them fully. So instead of that what it says is that he emptied himself, look what it said to do. He was in the form of God, did not count equality with God. A thing to be grasped but he emptied himself by taking on the form of a servant being born in the likeness of men. What are the empty himself of the first thing that we do? Know that he emptied his self up was the fullness of his glory? Nice to have access to the fullness of that Glory. But in the heavenlies, when we can't even review, upon God, because of our sin, we can't even look upon him. He had to empty himself so he has access to it but he put it aside for a Time. Why? Me. We could be that little baby so you could be the little one in swaddling clothes. So he could be born in that manger in a barn in a place, where no king would have ever thought about being born. It happens for me and you he also gave up his independent Authority, that listen during the Incarnation Christ, completely submitted himself to the will of the father. Listen to John 5:30. I can do nothing on my own, as I hear I judge. And my judgement is just because I seek not my own will, but the will of one who sent me. He? Never failed in any way to not be obedient to the father. He was obedient to the father from the moment that he came down and was born in that manger. He was obedient every step of his life. He was obedient for me. Hebrews chapter 58 says this. Although he was a son, he learned obedience through what he suffered and being made perfect. He became the source of Eternal salvation to all who obey him. Now that is a statement he learned obedience through what he suffered that hurts me. He had to learn.

The King of Kings the Lord of lords. The one who knows everything. The one who is everywhere at the same exact time. I'm not present. The one who is full of grace and mercy and on, and on all his attributes in the fullness of who he is. I can't even look upon and he had to learn.

What that means is a child as a, as a child in that manger. He grew up with like you did. You had to learn to talk your parents, probably prayed that you would talk. I pray for my sister to talk and then when she started, I pray for the hush. I can wait till she talk then I was so disappointed.

And learn and learn as he went. But he learned obedience through what he suffered each and every step of the way. Being obedient of the father onto the will of the father, every step along the way and we're in Luke, he he the scripture says that he turned his face to Jerusalem. A new at a particular time.

You can debate on when he knew what and how he knew what, and how he accessed. What and really, it's just a lot of fun to talk about but you really don't get anywhere. I don't know. I don't know. I mean, I know for a fact that that baby in that manger could have opened his eyes and spoke in any language in the universe. That that moment he could have he didn't. But he could have. Because it access to all of it, everything he still owned everything. He was still the King of Kings and the Lord of lords. He still knew everything. But ultimately he set aside this for a Time. To put on human flesh.

Do emptied himself of his Divine. Perogative, listen to Matthew 24. But concerning that day, no one knows. Not even the angels of the earth, nor the son, but the father only Now, this was speaking of of the return of Christ is being of the time and which will the disciples were wondering when it was going to happen. And he says, well y'all don't know. Now the Lord has to have access to that information because while he's God is a true part of the training God so he has access that information but he chooses not to access the information while in human form. He humbled himself in human form. He took on this flash for us. The other part is that I think about the fact that won't, he was made poor for you.

Listen to 2nd Corinthians 8 for, you know, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ that though he was rich, yet for your sake, he became poor so that you buy his poverty, might become rich.

How do you become poor wealth on this thing? What do you own in the heavens? Everything. Some stuff little bit stuff. Now he owned absolutely everything that there is scripture tells us that Jesus even holds everything together. That's the one that you want. Talk about go to mind-boggling Child In A Manger. Fully guy filthy human. He's holding the whole universe together as a baby. He leaves behind the heavenlies. He believes blind The Riches of everything. He possesses all Power. Authority sovereignty, glory honor Majesty. He has everything.

To be born a carpenter's son.

Who would come up with this?

I mean, seriously, I would come up with this idea.

Could you possibly come up with a God on your own? That you would decide would leave everything that is good and great and perfect and righteous, and holy. And in every way for her to be born in a manger for us, This is not a man, the kid be. Isn't that the way we would do it? Part of the reason why they had problems with Jesus in the first place was cuz member who could come good out of Bethlehem. You can come out of Nazareth. Nothing comes, good out of there. God did. But he did it all for you and I that we might be heirs with him. Is what that said, right? That he became poor, so that you might by his power to become rich. Listen to Romans 8:17. And if children are and Heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ provided we suffer with him in order, that we also be glorified with him. That's what is versus. We love to read. The first part we leave at second part.

I'm fellow heirs with Christ. Thing. Provided that we suffer with him. In order that we also be glorified with him. I am are. In Christ. The kingdom of God.

Provided I suffer with him. How do I suffer? Well, they didn't accept him. I did accept his truths. I didn't look upon him and say, wow, I'm so thankful that you are cleared all those things up for us.

I put him on a cross. They killed him. Determined to get him out of the way because, well he was a problem to them.

Beloved in Christ, we have a favorable relationship with God.

That's insane.

All other religions of the world, make some way that we would appease God her or make. Happy or, or do something to, to the, he wouldn't pull out his wrath upon us, but in Christ Jesus, we, we have a relationship with God, the Father, through the Sun, I stay in here this morning. No I talked to him this morning, I talked to him many of times last night, we talk all the time, thank the Lord. The only reason he hears me and direct me or guides me in any way is because of the perfect life of Christ that I need human form. Did all the things that I could not do.

Have a relationship with the God of all the heavens. I know him.

You're among the redeem this morning. That's your confession of your faith. Do you know him? He hears your voice in the heavenlies.

He desires to hear your voice. That's even crazier, right? I mean, come on. We talk to one another all the time and there's times where you check out on me.

I think. The times where I check out on you, and you're talkin. And I'm thinking at this person will just touch

Surely none of y'all. But I'm just saying other people I know. If the Lord never does that with me. The Lord is always there to listen and to guide me into the rent me, because our relationship with him but the relationship is in Christ Jesus. My Lord, It's Not Me Myself and I who did something for my own salvation.

You realize that part of what Christ did for you and I and the Incarnation and taking on the, his Humanity, on the humanity on himself.

was that he had, but for a few moments, an unfavorable relationship with God,

Matthew 27:46 and it says it about the ninth hour, Jesus cried out with a loud voice voice saying, Eli, Eli Lama sabachthani. That is my God. My God. Why have you forsaken me?

And that moment, the humanity of God, I'm sorry, the humanity of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We're taking on my wrath. The Divine wrath of God was being poured out upon him that I may never taste of that rat. It's not that he wiped. It clean is not as if he said, oh it's just okay, move on.

No, he took on that human form so that way he could take on the wrath of God. That I deserve. Cuz the I send in every way towards God wanting no part of him but my savior never did.

Scripture says for our sake, he's made him to be sin who knew no sin. So that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Don't know why I'm full of all these doctor in words this morning, but it is my, the imputation of my sin.

On Christ. In the imputation of his righteousness.

In that moment. All my Badness, all my sin on my lack of being good when upon his shoulders that he would know send. That I might know righteousness.

It's more than just a baby in the manger.

It's more than just. God taking on flash. It's it's why he did these things.

He didn't do it because he got bored in. The heavens is like, you know what? I'm done with these Angel things, I've had enough of them. I'm going to hang out with them for a little while. I'll see what it's like.

No, beloved he he did it for me. He did it. That I might have life, that is different.

Philippians 2. 8 goes on to tell us how Jesus was obedient to the father, Jesus, obedient to the father, Being found in human form. He humbled himself by being obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. So the creators of the heavens and the Earth, the one that we spoke about that knows everything. The Bible is the one that says he holds everything together. This Jesus Took on the form of man that mean he might be obedient all the way to Calvary. That's our good news, that's our good news today. And tomorrow the next day and yesterday, the gospel of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Which which if you find it, if you ask people who go to church, sometimes, if you ask them, what the gospel is, you will get some really strange answers. And I only know this because I keep doing it. I keep asking the question to see what people might say about. What is the gospel.

The real smart aleck ones are the ones that tell you it's Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Those the ones you want to pop in the nose and then give him Lord.

The gospel is the word of God, which it is in some form or fashion, it's in there. Of 11, Our Gospel, is that our God or Jesus came and put on flash, and was obedient unto the father in every way.

Going to the Cross dying on Calvary rising from the dead. Defeating death laying his life down, picking it back up again that I might repent and believe upon his name.

That's the short version. But oh, what a good grace. It is.

How Sweet It Is to know that savior. A sweet to know that that he gave his life as a ransom for me. Mark, chapter 10, for even the son of man came not to be served but to serve and to give his life. As a ransom for many, he was born to give his ransom for us 1st Peter 1. But with the precious blood of Christ like that of a lamb without blemish or spot, he was perfect. You are not.

Just in case you're wondering.

He is in every way. And saw fit to give himself for you.

To leave to leave all that behind. Come on, you, you have a place that you really like, there's some place that you like when you get there like your couch or something. It's really hard to move you off of it, right? Like you put me in the corner of our couch. First of all, takes 20 minutes to get out of it anyway cuz of the quarter and I can't figure that thing out. But Lillian there is really funny.

And I don't mind being there. I told you from the moment that I've married Lily to. Now my favorite thing in this whole wide world is sitting on the couch watching TV or just sitting there with her. I really just the world, just everything else is good. I'm not that complicated.

Imagine being in the heavenlies, be the Angels, glorifying your day and into a nice singing, your Praises, you are God. And you deciding to leave that to put this thing off. How much does he love you?

But he would leave behind all of that for this.

So that you might be an heir to the you might experience the heavenlies for yourself. Instead of being separated from God, forever in hell, you have the ability to repent and believe and be with him.

As an heir.

He gave himself up for us.

A verse 10 and 11. Speaks to his lordship. So that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow in heaven and on Earth and under the Earth. Every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God, the Father

there's a day coming, when Everyone will acknowledge Him. Everybody. Believers and unbelievers alike. For believers that day will be a glorious day for believers. That day will be standing before their King and their lord for the first time seeing him face-to-face. Can't imagine what that mom was going to be like

Beloved. There's a whole world of people who don't know him though and they going to stand before him that day, and they're going to Bow before him that day, and they will come to know him as Lord on that day. It'll be too late.

Revelation chapter 20 says, this verse 11 of chapter 20, then I saw a great white throne and him. Who is Seated on it from his presents Earth and Sky float away? No place was found for them and I saw the dead Great and Small standing Before, the Throne, and the books were opened. Then another book was opened which is The Book of Life and the dead were judged by that by what was written in the book and the books, according to what they have done, the sea gave up the Dead who were in at death and Hades, gave up Dad who were in them and they were judged each one of them according to what they had done. And death and Hades were thrown in the Lake of Fire. This is the second death, the Lake of Fire. If anyone's name was not found written in the Book of Life, he was thrown into the Lake of Fire.

11 either the Lord Jesus Christ paid for your wrath, pay for your all, your sin. Either that has happened and you have confessed him as Lord and Savior, and repented and believed upon him and say that. On that day, I only have Christ. Or you have not.

There's going to be a separation on that day. That will be clear to all those those who said that they confess them in this life and really didn't those who used him as a ticket to get out of hell. But didn't realize the relationship that was involved. For those who profess the wrong thing and believe that all roads, go to the same place. On that day, they'll find out there's one. One, and only way.

Double oven. We go back to the beginning of this. We go back to the conversation of humility.

For Christian to hold their nose up high to act as though you have something that no one else obtains or could obtain is foolishness.

The look upon someone and judge them in such a way that they could never be saved. Is foolishness.

The Lord, move the heavens and the Earth to be worn in the Incarnation of Jesus Christ, Our Savior and Lord. He loved us enough to do that. He went to the Cross willingly, being obedient all the way of the cross again for us, the wrath of God was poured out upon God.

ARA pay for by God.

That we might come to the place of repentance and faith.

Of 11. Usually, the story ends there but it done.

if you've been walking through these eleven chapters of Acts, And there's not something different between when we started. And now you're just not listening.

It's clear. It's been a lot sad. My goodness, every week has been a challenge to my heart and I know to yours. I pray.

But I want you to listen to Philippians now just so, you know, I'm not cheating.

Philippians chapter 12, after speaking, about the Incarnation of our Lord Jesus Christ. After speaking about the one who came and put on there, after Flash, the one who emptied himself leaving behind the fullness of his glory. We come to verse 12 and chapter 2 and I want you to hear what it says because it says therefore and when you see her there for, it means that all because of all these things that are true, therefore right there for because of all this true. So we're totally in agreement to 12116 back the Incarnation of Christ and who he is and what he emptied himself, a God inflect for you and I therefore my beloved as you off as you have also a bad. So now not only in my presence but much more in my absence work out your salvation with fear and trembling what is God, who works in you both to Will and to work for his good, pleasure? Do all things without grumbling or disputing that you may be blameless and innocent children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked in a Twisted generation among whom you shine as lights in the world. I don't think you heard that one so therefore my beloved as you all so bad. So now not only is in my presence with much more in my absence work out your own salvation with fear and trembling it is God, who works in you both to Will and to work for his good, pleasure, do all things without grumbling or disputing. Why that you may be blameless and innocent children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked in a Twisted generation among whom you what China's lights in the world. . Actually it's, but that's hardly the point.

11. Therefore, since you have tasted of the Incarnation of the Lord, Jesus Christ because you have tasted that he is good. Because you've participated him in him, in the First Act of obedience is repentance and belief. The first thing is to come to the end of myself and to realize that I can't do it and I can never pay for it and I can't do enough good. All those things or absolutely true but it goes to so much for more beyond that it is now not only is my wrath imputed upon him but now his righteous is imputed upon me that I might be different. That's why I can have a good time around Christmas and and remember it just around the holidays, not so that I can just remember it around Easter around that part of time or, or when the pastor just brings it up and in August or something, we have Christmas in July. Beloved, he changed my life permanently.

That I might live differently as a lie amongst a crooked and a wicked generation. That is desperately looking for what I have. Doesn't even know it they're filling it with all kinds of sins. Like they fill it with all kinds of thing that avoids, the truth of who they are in Christ. I want to take the name of Christ away from everything. Why? Because it's an offense or love it. It's an offense at one point in time, it was an offense to you. There are times now, when the Lord point something out in your heart and you're offended. You calling me stepping on your toes but it ain't me.

It's a God of all creation, looking in the depths of your heart and going hate. This ain't me. This is not me. What you going to do with this?

Work out your salvation with fear and trembling what does that mean? It's not so that I might be save it's because I am because I am saying I've been changed and the Lord will show me things in my heart and he wants to change me and continually change me that. My righteousness is fully in Christ. It's not partly in Christ and then I do good stuff and I gained more righteousness. Beloved, I am right? You may not think I'm right in the head but I'm right. But I want to write in Christ, not in me. People say that to me a lot, I don't know why but they say you're not right in the head. Now that just maybe something I get and you don't, I don't sure. But I agree with them, every time. I'm like, tell me something. I don't know. I know that.

A man. My God is good.

He didn't, he didn't want just come so that way you can sit on the couch comfortably.

Didn't even give up the Heavenly stuff. To give you a life of just
