Lukewarm, tepid, foul water was the bane of everyday life in Laodicea.
Jesus in his address to the church says- you're like that – you're neither one thing nor the other.

Recently a subgroup of the PCC met to think about the future direction of the church and how to share the load.

Problem in Laodicea – ineffective not primarily because admin was missing, but because Jesus was missing.
Jesus stands at the door of the church and knocks.
What a shocking thing.
Jesus comes to his own front door and finds that squatters have moved in and changed locks.

Yes improved administration was there.
But it came out from the centre.

Gold, fashionable clothing, eye medicene.
Jesus turns those round.
Church there is poor, naked and blind.
Worryingly easy when we think we are doing well to leave Jesus out of the picture.
