Explanation of Text
This is the second letter that Paul wrights to Timothy whom he refers to as his son
In the letter he call for Timothy to be firm and strong in his call
To watch out for false teachers
Than he gives him a charge the first part he tells him to be prepared for hardship and reminds him that he has been prepared by God from childhood to do the work his is called to do.
In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: 2 Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.
Preach when it is a joy and people want to hear it and when it is hard and people don’t want to hear it.
Correct, rebuke, encourage, and be patient
Be careful in your instruction
3 For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine.
Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 4 They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.
At times it will be hard and people will not want to hear what you have to say (preach the Word)
