Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
Peter had been arrested by the religious leaders because of the healing of the lame man.
When he was questioned by the religious leaders he told them the source of the healing but also in our text he told them Christ, the source of the healing, was also the way of soul salvation.
From our text we note three important truths about soul salvation.
FIRST TRUTH
THE MEANS OF SALVATION
“Neither is there salvation in any other, for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”
Christ is the way of salvation.
He is in fact, the only way of salvation.
Jesus, Himself, said that “no man comes to the Father but by me [Christ]”
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Furthermore the Apostle Paul emphasized this fact that only Christ can save when he said:
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
The Bible knows of no salvation except through Christ.
There is no soul salvation in Buddha or Confucius or any idol god of the people.
It is either Jesus or hell fire.

SECOND TRUTH
THE MERCY OF SALVATION
“Given among men.”
The word “given” underscores the grace and mercy of God.
Salvation is a gift not something you earn.
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Salvation “is the gift of God.”
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
We do not have any merit that would earn our salvation.
To the contrary, “all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags”
But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

If Scripture had said that all our sin was like filthy rags, we could easily accept that fact, but Scripture says our best is as filthy rags.
The best we can do will therefore not be enough to save our soul.
Only mercy and grace makes is possible for us to be saved.
THIRD TRUTH
THE MUST IN SALVATION
“We must be saved.”
Salvation is not optional.
It is not a luxury you can do without.
It is a great necessity.
If you want to get into heaven when you die, you must be saved.
Jesus used the same language as Peter did in our text when he told Nicodemus that “Ye must be born again”
Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
If he expected to enter heaven.
It is an absolute “must.”
Without soul salvation you will not have heaven as your home.
But if you come to Jesus Christ for your soul’s salvation you will gain heaven for all eternity.
If you have not come to Christ yet, hell is your future eternal home.
Therefore you “must be saved” if you are going to escape the eternal fire of perdition.
You may think you have a number of ‘musts’ in you life.
That may be so but the greatest of all ‘musts’ is to be saved.
Give it the highest priority of your life if you are not saved yet.
For “what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul?”
For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
“You Wouldn’t Let Me!”
Gypsy Smith said that once when a group of gypsies were forced to cross a swollen stream a great number of them were drowned. One young man made a desperate attempt to save his mother who kept clinging to him. Several times he pushed her away, saying, “Let go, Mother, and I can save you.” But she would not heed and was lost. At the funeral the son stood by his mother’s grave and said over and over, “How hard I tried to save you, Mother, but you wouldn’t let me!” How hard God tried to save the Israelites, but they wouldn’t let Him, and how often He tries to turn us from our follies, but we refuse to allow Him to do it.
When We Cease To Struggle
A drowning boy was struggling in the water. On the shore stood his mother in an agony of fright and grief. By her side stood a strong man seemingly indifferent to the boy’s fate. Again and again did the suffering mothed appeal to him to save her boy, but he made no move. By and by the desperate struggles of the boy began to abate. He was losing strength. Presently he arose to the surface weak and helpless. At once the man leaped into the stream and brought the boy in safety to the shore. “Why did you not save my boy sooner?” asked the now grateful mother. “Madam, I could not as long as he struggled. He would have dragged us both to certain death. But when he grew weak and ceased to struggle, then it was easy to save him.” It is when we cease from our own works and depend helplessly upon Him that we realize how perfectly able He is to save without any aid from us.
