Turning the Other Cheek
It is amazing to look back over the course of American history and see that with every conflict, there have existed heroes and scoffers simultaneously. On one hand, there are those who courageously lay their lives on the line to fight against tyranny. And on the other hand, there are those who mock the very attempt to bring freedom.
The contrasts to me are amazing. At one point, former Vice President Al Gore called for the resignation of President Bush and of most his cabinet because of the war in Iraq. But contrast his scoffing with the life of a young football player named Pat Tillman. He walked away from a $3.6 million contract to fight for his country. With every attempt to bring freedom comes positive and negative feelings.
