Good Evening Church!

Intro: I wanted to take a few moments to share a brief encouragement with you as I not be with you for a couple weeks with the schedule and the upcoming MDS trip!
My reflection Psalm for the last week has been Psalm 62 and I would like to read some verses from Psalm 62:1-2
Psalm 62:1–2 NIV
Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him. Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.
Psalm 62:5–8 NIV
Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him. Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.
last friday, jess and I went to Petco and we got some Cory Doras! Cory’s are bottom feeders they help keep the tank clean.
Kory Dora’s are fascinating fish to watch. They have unique patterns of behavior! They mostly stay on the bottom, but they swim up to the top for air sometimes! They are a schooling fish so they like to to stay together!
What I like about them most is at random times they will be completely still. They will all sit together and be still. When they decide its time to move and look for food they will, but in the moments stillness I think Psalm 62 is represented perfectly.
Learning from the Cory Doras
if you want to know what it looks like to live like your soul rests in God, that He is your rock and salvation. it looks like the stilness of a Cory. It is a understanding that starts in your head, goes to your heart and controls your body.
What then does it mean to not be shaken, I don’t think it means to completely ridgid and unmovable but again its a knowledge that noting can shake you to the core and destroy you when God is your salvation and honor.
What it looks like in our lives is to take time to be still before the lord and first off know that he is our refuge and fortress. Its even admist the bussiness and chaos we take time to reflect on the thought that God is our refuge. and let that knowedge sink into our hearts. Then our behavior will change accordingly.
The beauty of this is that we can do that admist the choas of life.
Another point i want to really focus in on is that if God is our honor than our idenity is fully caught up in him. That mean’s God is your reputation.
When people say things about you or when you get caught up in the lies you tell yourself, you can stop and remember that God is my honnor and God is my reputation. This has a freedom to it. Think about it do my corys care about what I say about them, or what I think about them. No their entire world is focused on the rythms of tank life. I think
Im not sure if this all coonects directly for you as you think about watching fish that go from business to stilness, but for me when I have watched the Corys this week this Psalm came alive for me. As I watched this little fish in our tank I thought, this is what it means to be unshaken.
I love that God can teach us these lessons through the world around us.
Encouragement:
PChurch Family, as you go about your week I would encourage you to pick a psalm, maybe its psalm 62 or Psalm 46 and reflect on it. Then keep your eyes open for ways that God can teach you deeper ways of understanding Him.
Let me pray for you!
