Interactivity #1
1.
With the people around you, I’d like you to take a few minutes to make
a list of all the different things that you can think of that God has given
us to help us flourish as followers of Jesus.
2. Pick one or two of the things you listed, and talk about why those
things can help you flourish as a Christian.
The means of grace
2
1.
The Word (2 Timothy 3:14-17)
2. Prayer (Luke 11:1-13)
3. Fellowship (Ephesians 4:15-16)
3
Reasons we neglect the means
1.
We want to have vitality in our Christian lives
2. We want to maintain a sense of personal freedom in our Christian lives
A final danger - trusting the gifts, not the Giver
4
Interactivity #2
1. Write a short, one- or two-sentence summary of the gospel.
Conclusion
“The means of grace, and their many good expressions, will serve to make us
more like him, but only as our focus returns continually to Christ himself, not
our own Christlikeness.
It is in “beholding the glory of the Lord” that we “are
being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another”
(2 Cor.
3:18).
Spiritual growth is a marvelous effect of such practices, but in a
sense it is only a side effect.
The heart is knowing and enjoying Jesus.”
