Father, thank you for your grace, thank you for all that you do and continue to do in each of our lives and father as we study your word now may your word not return void. May your word to you. Exactly what you have purpose forwarded to do. Jim's. Jim's last week, we started the book of gems and we saw the theme of the book of James has. It's time to grow up Warren. Wisby us says that the church has become a playpen for babies instead of workshops for adults. The church has become many churches. I'll become playpens for babies instead of workshop for adults. That means a lot of people just come just to be entertaining or are just scum in just to do my religious check. But never grow. End gym. That's why the subject and jams. It's about a spiritual growth. When Jim says we don't want to be like babies but we want to be spiritually mature, just like the book of Hebrews as a lot of us while we were supposed to be now teachers, but we are still being fed milk. So James is telling us 8. I don't want you to be a spiritual baby anymore. I want you to be eating meat. I want you to have a steak. No longer a having just milk. You see my son just had his birthday. He didn't ask for a cake but he asked for a stick and he wanted a feeling in your on senior old eats. What does the same thing that James is trying to get us to James is saying that we need to start getting weaned off milk and we need to go to meet and today is going to be a meat message, not a milk message. We are going to look at honoring God in our trials. In our difficulties, in our problems. Any of you here, have problems or ever had some problems.

So Jim says a lot of things to tell us this morning. So we're going to look at Moore's 2 to 12 and you can follow along in your message notes, pretty much Gems, as for things that Jim's want to tell us this morning. But first of all, let me just give you the message in one sentence, the message in a nutshell As you grow in your face, you need to learn to see problems with the Divine perspective. So that you may honor God, even when your world has been turned upside down, you with me as you grow in faith, you need to learn to see problems with a Divine perspective so that you may on their God, even when your world has been turned upside down, father has bestowed your word now made net return void. Problems are normal problems, are normal. So today we going to see as we study the Book of James didn't say, when we going through God or the difficulties or trials, we need to recognize the truth about our trials. We need to realize God's purpose in our trials. We need to respond with the proper perspective to our trials. And then, as a result, we will receive God's rewards for our faithfulness. We cannot go through them one by one. So what is a trial, what is a trial? A trial is a problem that you go in flu that you didn't necessarily do anything to cause that trial, It just happens. It just comes at you, those trials are God or dreamed in our lives to teach us something. And that's what we're going to see as we go for the text year in Jim's this morning. And the first thing that Jim's want us to do as we go for trial difficulties problems in our lives, we need to recognize the truth about trials. That's our first point. This morning, we need to recognize the truth about our trials in horse to just says counted Some Joy. Oh, you're reading. Count it all joy. My brothers, when you meet Trials of various, you say, Amen, say Amen. We don't want to say, Amen. Here you have problems, you should be joyful. Joyful that because of the trials and that is coming cuz trials are painful some problems that you face, you. You never wanted even on your worst enemy. But James is saying, hey, in your trial. It's all about perspective for some people when they get into their trials, they get bitter. While some others get better. So Jim's is saying to us. We need to recognize the truth about trials and we need to count it all joy. Why? Because of what God is about to do in us a lot of us, waste our trials, God bring a trial into our life with circumstances will health issues, flu financial problems, flu, emotional her through relationships, flu, bad circumstances, whatever it is, but we never learn. And then what's going to happen when we don't learn from our trials. They keep repeating. They keep repeating and repeating and repeating and repeating. Until we finally get it and learn what we were supposed to learn in. That trial, every trial. God has a purpose for us. Our God is saying to us, we need to know the truth about trials, trials, are beneficial, they are good. Because of the work they're going to do and US trials are unavoidable. Will face trials in all of us here, even if we are very young, we have faced some trials. Remember where your sibling was mean to you as a kid or steal your toy or you hurt your fingers? C H, O Level that your trial Just Like Old Folks. We get some serious trials. You got a little kid, you know, just like your finger with a hammer. It's like the end of the world for that kid. If it was somebody else, but they are going to happen. When you see, it's cloudy outside. It is going to rain, get your umbrella.

Have you ever realize that life might be going perfectly fine? And then all of a sudden something just hit you. Boo? And then you're asking yourself, where did this one come from going on here? Sea trials will take you by surprise because trials happened in our life. They come on expectedly, Aldo trials are expected, but they come at a time when you least expect it. It's all good. And then all of a sudden, it just hit you. Like a rock and Jim says, Amy ready. That's why James is using an accounting term count. Can you count? So James is saying, I want you to count it all joy. When you fall into that trial, you need to consider it. And John said, Jim says you count it all joy. When you meet Trials of all kinds are looked at their, says, my brothers, see a lot of us, we have come to believe that trial the only for the hemans, right? Those would not know God. Then why does Jim's telling us here? Trials are for believers as well. You see that just bring the Gap Prosperity Gospel flat on its face, telling you telling people that owe you should never ever problems. Should always be with good health. You should all your money in your bank account.

You going to have some problems as a Christian. The Book of James was written to Christians. Jim says, count it all joy. My brothers. Remember it was written to the Christians, the Jewish Christians, in the dispersion, they were all over the world. And James is saying, are you going to have some problem of persecution in the Roman Empire will never have problems.

and some of us might even end up having more problems and people in the world have But Jim says, count it all joy. When you meet Trials of every kind count, it all joy. What James is trying to tell us a our Outlook determines. Our outcome, our Outlook in our problems, determine our outcome in our attitude will come in. Our action is our attitude that will determine our actions. If we are bitter in that trial was going to happen. We just going to rumble, we going to complain. We just going to go all around weekend of the miserable. But even that trial, we embraced it with an attitude that God is going to do something in me to make me better. You see, now I have hope all of a sudden. Now I am not desperate because I know that this is going to be for my good and now it's telling us our attitude will determine what happens in that trial. You see, if you're going through a trial, Don't be shocked or surprised, no matter how faithful you are to God. If you go in floor, trials, don't be shocked at all. Don't be surprised. No matter how faithful you are to God.

You love this point. I can tell in your face, I'll read it for you again if you go in for a trial right now, don't be shocked. Don't be surprised. No matter how faithful you are to God. This is unfortunately the truth about trials. I know we may not like it but that is the truth about Trial. If you are living and breathing you will have problems you will go through trials.

I know some of you are saying you was that you making me depressed. Alright, let's move on. Let me give you some Bible verse from our sponsors, the Bible, you ready? Men is born to set with me trouble as the Sparks Fly upward. So it kind of like gravity what goes up must

the job is saying, it is sure in life. As long as you're living and breathing, you will have problems. Jesus tells us the same thing in Matthew chapter 5 verse 10 to 12. It says that one with me who are the Kingdom of Heaven. Say, hallelujah. I knew even if you don't mean it but he'll Aunt, Louis Jesus is telling us that you are persecuted when your neighbors doing some weird things to you. When your friends, disappoints, you blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven, ordained trials. You see there, it says for righteousness sake. That means you had no part in it. You with me, you had no part in next week. We're going to deal with trials that you bring on yourself. But this week here, we only talk about trials that God brings in in your life. You had nothing to do with it. You're doing everything perfectly. But the trials just come some trials are self-inflicted. We'll talk about that next week. But this week here we talkin to the faithful. All of you are working with God and you doing what you supposed to do, you living according to God's word, you are loving like God tells you to love you, love God and you love people, you serve them. You you you you doing evangelism, you telling people about Christ, you inviting people to church with sharing the gospel at all. And then God says, Jesus says, blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven. Revile, you and persecute you and other all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account rejoice, and be glad you see it again, count it all joy. Jesus is saying the same thing. If you didn't believe Jen's, now you got to believe Jesus, Jesus says rejoice, and be bored is great in heaven for. So they persecuted the prophets before you see, the problem with the Prosperity Gospel. Men of God, the profits, they were persecuted. They had hard times. The Bible is telling us of jams for job's of Jesus and now it's with Peter. 1st Peter 4:12. It says, beloved do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to do what If you guys do something special happening to you, when something happens, you feel like it's strange. What did I do? And then that's usually our reaction. What did I do to deserve this?

It's your peter spelling. I don't be surprised.

Trial that has a purpose. Which is our second point this morning. So pretty much James. He's telling us the truth about trials is that they are totally normal. And the second point this morning is that we need to realize God's purpose. We need to realize God's purpose in our trials. So first, we need to realize that I recognize the truth about trials. They are unavoidable. There are beneficial to us even though we don't like it and the trials, they are totally normal, they can come unexpectedly, but we need to trust God, we need to realize, God has a purpose in every God ordained trials that we Face such as you already store in 1st, Peter 4 verse 12, where it says, trials are there to test us. So let's look at it in jams now James Verse three. Chapter one verse three tips for, you know that why it's safe with me testing of your faith produces steadfastness purpose for your trials is a test. So God is testing your faith. You see we can say that we are believers in Christ until Trials come But that's when God say, I'm going to test your face. I'm going to really let your show out who you really are. For you know, that the testing of your faith, produces steadfastness steadfastness, that means you are on wavering. You are standing firm in your faith, no matter what happens. You just like the rock whenever Wind Blows. It doesn't move. Jay-Z saying, yay. God is testing your faith so that you would be immovable, that you will be strong, that you will be reliable to God, and let steadfastness have its full effect. That you may be. What? Perfect. That means you mature and complete lacking. Nothing Wipeout. Excuses. A little bit. Since you, we like to say that the flesh is weak. But we never say the rest of the verse, but the spirit is willing and trials are coming to all and it says no temptation has overtaken, you that is not come into all. So, James is saying, the purpose of Trials is to make your strong so that you don't make excuses like babies saying, it's not my fault, it was a mistake know. James is saying you need to start taking responsibility because the trials in your life, it's supposed to make you on wavering supposed to make you strong, so that you will be perfect. That means you really Walking with God, you are the serious believer. You are mature and complete. You are lacking in. Nothing. Jensen saying a, you are ready? You see trouble and that given to us just for trouble. Sick troubles are not given to us. Just for trouble sake school or just the teachers over giving a pop quiz. What's the purpose of that task? I remember when I used to teach math The Citadel, when do we ever get to use this?

This is saying trouble are not given to us for trouble sex. Sometimes I did give the students in the problem just do so I can buy some time.

Confession time.

But that's a god trouble given to us. Just for troubles. Think God has specific purpose for us and I'll just share three of them with you is for spiritual growth and development that means maturity. God wants us to grow in maturity and it's conformarse to christlikeness. Remember, your neighbor is not your comparison. Christ is your comparison, God wants you to be like Christ. Not like you look much better than those. I think I'm doing good now. I'm Not The Measure of Faith. Christ, has we supposed to be conforming to christlikeness? Because crisis the picture of perfection? See you may be doing better than any other Christian. The crisis thing and you're not there yet until you are fully confirm to Christ likeness You see trial that you already saw in 1st Peter, 4:12 it's a test to move you to the next level. Isn't that supposed to be the purpose for test when I when an instructor teacher or Professor give a test?

We can move you to the next level. That means you are ready for the next level. Does it. Remember God wants to give us all things that pertains to Goblin of God wants to give you good things in life, is he? That's the part that the Prosperity Gospel try to come just saying, like I do it. As long as you give the money, you going to get that but that's not what the Bible says. It's going to test your favorite hard time.

As you pass each test, God will take you to the next step in life is seen as a walk. See that's where you see in the in the connection card. I told you like, what's your next step is seen as a step. So as you taking the next step, the Christian Life is a walk. That's why it says, God will test. You hear you pass? Okay, enjoy some comfort. Then guy say, okay, now you're getting too comfortable. Let me take you to the next level. I'm going to bring some then if you pass that test you get to move up to the next level. But if you fail the test, what happened? You stay in the same grade. You with me and on till you meet those grades, you have passed that Mastery check then you can't move on to the next on. A lot of us are just stuck in our fake. We are stuck in our walk-in, gyms goal is to get us unstuck James's saying, I passed the test Do what God's word says. Once you do it, you will pass the test and you can go ahead and move on and be in your Merry way. I never designed for you to fail but to reveal why you no. See, God is not like me was sometimes just give the kids a little poke quiz so I can finish something. They are designed for you to grow so that you can move to the next level. Now a word from our sponsor, the Bible Matthew 5:48, it says you therefore must be said with me perfect as your heavenly father is perfect, so no excuses, no excuses saying that God wants you to live. Like I'm sure Christian Ephesians 4:13, 215 tells us the same thing. It says on till we attend, the unity of faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God to say it with me, mature men, who would to the measure of the Statue of the fullness of Christ. So that we may no longer be what children tossed to and fro by the wave and carried about by every wind of Doctrine by humankind. Crafting in deceitful schemes rather we do speaking the truth. How in love we are to do what grow up in every way into who Jesus Christ is the measure into him. Who is the head? Into Christ. The purpose of trial for alive is spiritual growth. God wants us to look at it with me. The 2nd Corinthians 1, verse 3, to 4, God of All Comfort Converse Us in all our Affliction, so that we may be able to do what comfort Those who are in a knee Affliction, we have the comfort with which we ourselves are contradicted by God. If you've never been to a problem, so I can you help people with problems.

God didn't create you to just be sheltered kid. He created you to be scattered. Remember last week.

Do Jewish Believers in the dispersions. They were like scattered seed. He got it at your sheltered them, keep them in Jerusalem and protecting them. And then, you know, just just just from from the persecution made them go for the persecution. So that they would be scattered and be like scattered few to share the gospel. So when God is bringing trials in our lives, guy December 8th, you not a sheltered kids. You were scattered kid. You are there to bring life into the world. If I need you to minister to people to bring hope to people. If you've never been to any problem. Can you bring it up the people? What do you know?

All of us here. We know we like to talk with somebody was being flu something. Don't just tell us things about head knowledge but tell me that you walk with something.

If you don't like when you get into your trial, you need to start asking yourself, why not me? Instead of I mean, where did this come from? Instead the attitude needs to be. Why not me? I know God I'm strong the word of God teach me how to live. Why should it be to somebody was an unbeliever who doesn't know anything about got a name for them to go into depression for them to go into desperation to go into despair. But me I have the word of God. I have the hope of God would be constant in prayer. I have a tool that they don't have a prayer. I have a relationship with God. I have home. So when I face trials, the question is, why not me? So that I can be a source of comfort to those who may be going through the very same thing that I went myself. The first of all, we need to recognize the truth about trials. They are unavoidable the heart, no more. They come unexpectedly and it is the purpose. Realize the purpose of trials, they are there to test you to grow, you ought to be more like Christ and then thirdly, we need to respond with the proper perspective to our trials, you need to respond with the proper perspective to your trials. And the way that the Bible Acts to respond remember, it's the respond house, it with me with

And then we will see that we need to respond with the Fraser. And also Fellowship. Prayer specifically Prayer for Wisdom as we will see in the next verse and fellowship because trials are come in to. Also, we need wisdom and wisdom. We get it from God's word and flow prayer and also we get it flew others. So Joy, what did it say? In verse to you, we need to count it. All joy.

The next in verse five. It says we need to respond with prayer, read it with me. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask lacks wisdom. Why don't usually like to pray for? Deliverance. I'm sorry. Eversource. What's going on Lord? Jim says no that's not to respond to try on that porch to get you for this.

Tell me when you get to God, you're going to have to ask. God, then God. Why did you do that? Then God will tell you. There are some things you'll never have answers for and this side of heaven and you need to be very comfortable with that. And Jim says what you need to ask when you fight the trials to ask for wisdom. Let's let's see what he says. It's let him ask. God will give us how How does God give wisdom? Generously you ask God for wisdom in that trial to have the proper attitude and to know what to do in that trial. What does I will give you wisdom, Jenner's. I remember one time I was going through a very difficult problems, and then I was I was really going into the spare. But you know, somebody just came in, just give me like a like a 2-second advice. Problem-solve.

And that's why God is in. Got to go, put the right people in your life to give you the advice, that's why you need. Fellowship and God will get drawer you to his words. Do you know where these words says and God wants you to go to pray? You're so you can get it for wisdom. Says, if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God will give generously to some of you to some of you, some of you too.

How? Approach it yours. I want to give you wisdom in your trial and it will be given to you. So your reaction now, whatever you're going through, whatever problem you have now, stop asking God to get you out. But ask God, for what Wisdom in that situation. What do I do? Lord.

Let It Go.

Come on. Let him ask. How? In Spanish. But let him ask in faith. You see, that's the problem. A lot of us. We sometimes pray to God, but we do not pray in faith and look at what Jim says here about faking prices. But if we filed, what, no doubting For the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. That means anything you want stable. This is ain't you praying and then you doubting, you don't do really believe that God is going to do something. You don't pray expectantly. You have a problem that has been going on for a while.

Do you still be leaving at some point that you like I'm the only sinner in this room that again and give me out of this.

What does no faith do it? You're not really praying expectantly that God is going to move your guy. God is going to do something. But Jim says, AA, you need to pray expect employee. There's no doubt that, you know, that God will move, and God will agates, as but let him ask in faith with no doubting for the one would doubt is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind for that person. Must not suppose that he will receive what Anything from below that, you can pray all you want. But if there's no faith in that prayer, Nothing's going to happen. Nothing is going to happen. This is he's a double-minded man. How unstable in all his ways? That's why I'm telling you this message is not for babies. It's for adults. James, the saying, hey as adults, we cannot be babies in the face. And girls, I see that you're looking at me. I know you're not adults yet, but you see all of us. Some of us grow in age, but that doesn't mean that we grew up, but you might have a young so they just grow fast. That's what James is saying here we need not just to grow up grow old, but we need to grow up and it says that if we are double-minded, a lot of us we're looking for Solutions in the world at and then we looking for solutions from God. It's like we we we not in one place that we hear in the world. We hear we've got it, it's kind of like we we we we we we checking like ever got to say A you going to stay with me or you stay with the world? Got you going to trust me or you? Not trust me, cuz we will be. Unstable in all our ways. To look at Matthew 7 verse 7. And it will be Come on. It will be given to you seek and you will find for everyone who asks receives and the one who seeks finds into the one would not eat, will be opened for which one of you. If his son asked him for bread will give him a stone or if he asked him for his fish will give him a serpent if you then who are saying I'm evil evil know how to give good gifts to your children. How much more will your father who is in heaven? Give good things to do those. Who ask? You are a child of God.

I just if you would have evil in your heart will do good things to people. You love. Why would God not do the same?

Cigars and I'm ready. I'm ready to give you good things. You see the greatest enemy to answer through regular is what Unbelief. We praying, but we don't really believe that God will act in that situation, we praying, but we don't believe really believe that God will actually do something. But God is saying, hey, I'm ready to ask, are you really believing what you are praying? Then and James 1 verse 9 through 11. It says let the lowly brother goes in his exultation and the rich in his humiliation because like a flower of the grass, he will pass away for the sun rises with a scorching heat and Withers. The grass is flower Falls and its beauty parishes. So also will the Richmond fade away in the midst of his pursuit of Believers. The believer with little means or poor and the believer was rich, see the one who is Rich. Usually just think that they can buy their way out of trouble. You know, some people, every problem we got a toll money at it. You think AAA you rich? You think you can throw money at all your problems? Let me give you an illness. That no doctors can solve, and then just realized just like with all your money, I'm still not going to heal you, but you are eventually going to die. I think James is saying it's the same for you to of little means those of you are pool, which was the case with a lot of the Believers were in the dispersion. Is it say don't look down on yourself, either. And really, the way what you would jam the saying is that don't let what you have make, you feel safe, that's for the rich and don't let what you lack make you feel inadequate. For some of us when we Face trials because we met have little means, we'll feel like we in that occurred. We cannot go through that trial. The rich person might be able to go through that trial better than we can't, but but but James is telling us, remember you standing in Christ you or child of God. And Peter says that we are a warrior priest. So that means you are a king's child. so James is saying, it doesn't matter that you are of little means, but remember you're spending in Christ,

Anything that those of you will have money, we have all the stuff in the world, be careful. Prosperity is fleeting it only last for so long. It is short-lived. And then you cannot buy yourself out of every trial. And remember, you two, you will perish one day with all your money,

Did I tell him good man. James is tough. Jim's sending something for everybody. See, James is saying your identity must be rooted in who Christ not in your money, not in your feelings that how you feel about yourself. But just the same, it doesn't matter what circumstance you face. Your identity needs to be grounded and it's to be rooted in me. And really James's just saying, trials will not last forever. Any of you been through trials, sometimes you don't even realize it. That's why we need to pay attention, we might be in a trial right night and we forgot that God had delivered us from similar things before. Any Witness.

Whatever you going through right now, God is saying to you. A thief will not last forever. And I do believe or even if it did. Even if it did. When you get to heaven, everything will be fine.

You with me?

The three things recognize the truth about trials, the island avoidable, they can happen on expectedly at any time. There's a purpose for trials. We need to realize. The purpose for trial is to test those two conformers to Christ, likeness to grow us to develop us and then we need to remember. What's the third one?

God's purpose in the trial and we need to respond to it with proper perspective with fellowship with one another and now lastly jams want to remind us that as a result of staying steadfast on the prayer as a result of passing the test. Jim says, you will receive God's reward for your faithfulness. I just love God, anytime got access to do something. God always gives us the promise. Whenever God gives you a command, God, also, give you a promise and God is saying that he is my promise to you. Hey, you remain steadfast on the trial. You passed that test. You will receive award from me, so let's close our time in verse 12. It says blessed is the man will remains steadfast, you don't fold, you don't give up on the trial for when you had stood the test. I mean, when you pass the test, you will receive the Crown of Life, which God has promised to do those who love him. Do you love God? God says, I will give you a reward for your faithfulness. Oh Rewards. Growth in Christian character, remember the purpose of the trial was to grow you. So the reward is that now you will be ready to tackle anyting. And once you do, it's the most important that you grow in your Christian character. And then you give glory to God, because you were created for God's purpose and then ultimately, now for those, when we are save, it says we get the Crown of Life when Christ returns. He said that we get the Crown of Life disease. There says, when you have stood the test of time, you will receive the Crown of Life. Is he that's why we're going to have to focus on material. Things are things here that we don't get because God got us. In Romans 4 verse 22, 21. Speaking of Abraham, it says, no unbelief made him waver concerning the promise of God but he grew strong in his face as he gave glory to God. Fully convinced, he was resolute. That God was able to do what he has promised. Do you believe that God is able to do what he has promised? God says he will reward you for staying firm on the trial, gets what's going to happen. God will reward. You don't lose hope in your trial. I know, trials are no fun. I've had my fair share. There are no fun, but look at what God says in Isaiah, it says remember. And that the former things nor consider the things of old a lot of us love to stay in the past, forget the past, just look at it like a rearview mirror and then move on. If you keep looking at that rearview mirror, what's going to happen to the car? You going to crash? So Jose is telling us don't keep staring at that rear view mirror. Look at the windshield, it look at what God is doing now because this be all I'm doing what a new thing. Now it Springs forth. Do you perceive it? I will make a way where in the wilderness and Forest. you like my look like a desert right now but God says, hey, I'm going to turn it into A river, amen. Amen. And you got to end with Joe. Joe had his fair share of Trials. Loess, always business. Let's all his children. His health went down. But look at her job site. He knows the way that I think. when he has tried me going through that trial, Actual come out. How

a skull. So Jobe James Jesus. Peter is telling us Whatever trials that you're going through, hang in there. Hang in there. Trials will not last forever. God puts you in Trials, so that you'll be all over him. So that you'll turn to him. God, I can't do this life on my own. I need you you are in prayer, you are in scripture, you searching you in church, you in Fellowship, got since I got you cannot get your hands off of God, you just totally in him. I'm Peter, we and here, it says, in this, you rejoice do now for a little while. If necessary you have been grieved by various trials, that's the thing they multiple. They come in all different forms and sizes. So that the tested genuineness of your faith, more precious than gold that perishes flu is. It is tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. Do you have not seen him? You love him. Do you do not now see him you believe in him and rejoice with joy. That is how inexpressibly count it all joy and filled with Glory.
