Intro,Helloread whole text Vs. 4 We see in this Psalm that the office is permanently occupied by Christ now.
Psalm 110:4 NASB95
4 The Lord has sworn and will not change His mind, “You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek.”
The Christ, as well as ruling regally, civally, as King, also rules as a priest. And this is not of the Levitical priesthood, according to the flesh, but according to Melchisedec, to show that Christ reigns forever. Give context for the Levitical priest. The high preist Malchizedeck, an old testament illusion. A figure who blessed Abraham, and Abraham tithed to him. He does not have a genology given, he does not have a mother or a father mentioned, we know very little about him. His name is - king of rightousness. King of Salem, which is king of peace. I don’t have the time to look at all of Hebres 7, or to explain the intricacies of the malchizedeckian priesthood, but(Don’t turn, exegeiete)
Hebrews 7:14–17 KJV 190014 For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood. 15 And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest, 16 Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life. 17 For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
The difference between a levite, and MelchizedeckA levite has his own sin to atone for, and diesChrist died, the just for the unjust. The Christ has been anointed in a new preisthood, forever. Under a new covenant, not under the law, but under grace. That the guilt of the law is taken away, becaues Christ took the curse for us. The law did nothing but reveal the rightroussness of God, and the wickedness of men, in comparason. The sacrifices of blood and bulls cannot take away sins, the conscience could never be clean. But in Christ we have a better hope, and a better covenant. And the Lord has sworn by Himself. He will not change His mind. He is priest forever, He continues forever, holding His priesthood permanently. He is able to save forever, to take away the curse..He lives to make intercession for us. There is one mediator between Christ and man.Not marry, not dead saints, and not living ones. But that every time you sin, it is Christ who stands between you and the wrath of the Father. The law appointed weak men, but by God’s word He appointed a Son, who has been made perfect, forever. The main point being stated here:
Hebrews 8:1–2 KJV 19001 Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens; 2 A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.
Christ is seated at the right hand of God in the true tabernacle, ministering to God on our behalf. He is our intercessor. There will never be another Christ, there will never be another king, because Christ lives forever, and His sheep with Him.The tabernacle, the temple, the sacrifices, the bread of presence, the washing, the law pointed to the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. The Jews who rejected Jesus are still waiting for their Christ, they are waiting for a conquoring carnal warlord, but the window of His coming has come and gone, and He was right on time.. He offered Himself once for all.
Hebrews 10:12 KJV 190012 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
Not to be re sacrificed every time we take communion, no, once for all. Vs 5,
Psalm 110:5 KJV 19005 The Lord at thy right hand Shall strike through kings in the day of his wrath.
Christ is a judged! There is great fear in my heart, though I pray I had more fear. There is great fear for the souls of men. That I stand before you, bringing you God’s word. When a man dies He will stand before the Judgment seat of Christ. There is a day of wrath. When Christ came, He ascended, and He brought wrath about the apostate city of jerusalem. He brought nations against them, He shattered the proud and lofty and brought them low. But Jesus said,
Luke 12:5 KJV 19005 But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.
God has brought down kingdoms, but perishing in this life in nothing compared to the fires of hell. My prayer of fear is upon you, that you would examine yourself. As we go to the table, examine yourself! Are you living for yourself! Are you submitted to the will of God? Are you pressing into the kingdom violently. Why do you get out of bed? Why do you go to work? Why do you live? Is it for Him? Is Christ your hobby? or is He the life and the length of your days? Is the chief end of your life God’s glory? He will bring judgment upon the earth. He will drestroy the wicked. He will separate the sheep and the goats! He will give to His children eternal life, but will judge the wicked of the earth. \This is no arbitrary military conquest, but a righteous judgment according to the holy law of God!
Matthew 25:31–32 KJV 190031 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: 32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
In the law is the knowledge of sin. Is God pulling you to love Him more? Is He driving you to love Him with all your heart soul mind and strength? And when you look in to the law of God and you see His perfection, do you see who you truly are, the miserable wretch that man is, that God would be so just as to judge the entire earth, and in that truth do you run to the cross? It’s eternal punishment, or eternal reward.
Matthew 25:46 KJV 190046 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
Paul says This is why the kings are commanded encouraged to kiss the Son, because the Christ has wrath to pour out on sin.
Psalm 2:12 KJV 190012 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, And ye perish from the way, When his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
Have you kissed the Son? Do you look fall in worship to Him, or do you do all you can to cast off His yoke? Some deny that He riegns, they are under the deception of the devil. Some hate His reign, they are under the judgment of God.but His sheep, they love Him, and follow Him, everywhere He goes. And they love Him because He loved them first, because they see what God has done at the cross for the whole world. vs 6. For
Psalm 110:6 KJV 19006 He shall judge among the heathen, he shall fill the places with the dead bodies; He shall wound the heads over many countries.
Since the beginning and until this day the world does nothing but plot wicked schemes. God flooded the earth because the thoughts of the sons of men were nothing but evil continually. The scripture says that they all lie in wait for blood, they all hunt their brother with a net. For He sits in the heavens and laughs against the schemes of the wicked. He will Judge the earth! John sees in revelation sees the day of the wrath of Christ, as Christ brings wrath on the wicked:
Revelation 6:15–17 KJV 190015 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; 16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: 17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?
and John see’s the final day:
Revelation 20:11–15 KJV 190011 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
My question to you all who hear me today, are you in Christ or out?Are you submitted to His rule or not?Are you of the youth who are volunteering freely in the day of His power? Or do you not believe? Do you believe that He came, that He died, that He rose?Do you believe in Him, do you cling to His cross for the forgiveness of your sins?Or do you trust in something else. vs. 7
Psalm 110:7 KJV 19007 He shall drink of the brook in the way: Therefore shall he lift up the head.
He is determined. He will not fail in His mission. He will drink from the brook in His pursuit, He will not fail in His purpose. Therefore He lifts up His head, looking forward unto the victory.Do not think because He is seated at the right hand of the Father, that He is inactive, that He is passive in the world. He is powerfully with His church, and He is accomplishing His work through the Holy Spirit. Our Lord a determination of purpose. The Lord does not change His mind or revoke His word. When He says something He will do it. He set His face towards Jerusalem, He accomplished his humiliation with resolve, we He not also finish His work of subduing His enemies? If we believe the word, we believe that He will accomplish all that He has spoken. Do you believe?Do you believe that He has ascended into heaven, that He is seated at the right hand of God? That He will bring His enemies under His feet?Does your life reflect this belief? Are you submitted to the rule of the Christ.Or do you say, that we will not have Him rule over us. Do you try to cast away His cords from you? Do you say that He does not really see what is done in the dark?Christ is the way, the truth and the life. He is coming. He will have victory over all opposition; He will see the travail of His soul and be satisfied. The Father will give His Son the whole earth, and here this, O you saints. Christ promises to every believer a share in His own inheritance. For He says to the Church in Revelation:
Revelation 2:26–27 KJV 190026 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: 27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.
Christ has promised a share in His inheritance, to all those who trust in Him. We cannot imagine the richess of His grace. It far surpasses everything this word can offer. The religions of the world will tell you to love the world, to look like the world, but Christ has overcome the world. He that made it, is greater than the world. Trust in Him, for forgiveness, for salvation, for the resurrection, for eternal life. Trust in Him. Lets pray.
