In this passage we see a connection between sickness that needs to be healed and sins that need to be forgiven. James' words take their place alongside the use of medical treatment. He also shows the opportunity of prayer with a positive outcome, and we are all blessed when these needs are shared in community. The need for confession should be discerned by the individual, not the community. We may not know the outcome, but we follow what He says.
