Marriage Service Uniting
We are together in this holy and sacred hour to witness the uniting of these two devoted hearts in the enduring bonds of Christian marriage. This most blessed of human relationships was first celebrated in the quiet bowers of Eden, in the time of man’s innocency. God saw that it was not good for men and women to be alone. And so He gave man and woman to each other as husband and wife. “And for this cause shall a man leave father and mother and shall cleave unto his wife. And they two shall be one flesh.”
And now ------------ and -------------, having freely and deliberately and prayerfully chosen each other as partners for life, will you please join your right hands.
Brent, you are now entering a relationship with many privileges, but also many obligations. The woman you love is about to become your wife. In no way could she so tell of her love for you as by her willingness to turn from home, loved ones, and friends to make her home with you. Your joys will be her joys and your sorrows her sorrows. Your people will be her people and your God her God.
-----, you, too, are entering into a relationship with many privileges and obligations. The man you love is about to become your husband. He tells the world not only of his willingness but of his express desire to turn from all others and to you for the rest of his life. Your love will be his inspiration and your prayers his tower of strength.
And now, here in the presence of God and these witnesses, do you ---- take -----to be your lawfully wedded wife? Do you promise to love her and to promote her happiness so long as you both shall live?
