A REAL MAN

Text: Acts 27:9-10, 21-37

INTRODUCTION: The church suffers because of a lack of godly men. We need outstanding man to lead our churches, schools, and nation.

I.  A REAL MAN PRAYS ABOUT EVERYTHING

Here we see Paul as he studies the weather. He thought that this was the wrong time to sail. He was always like this. He didn’t rush into things without thinking them out and praying about them.

II. A REAL MAN HAS A SIMPLE, CHILDLIKE FAITH

In the midst of the storm the experienced seamen gave up hope.  But Paul said, “I believe God will do what He said.” The Bible says that “without faith it is impossible to please God.” Men who have faith please God. God always rewards faith “...According to your faith be it unto you” (Matthew 9:29).

III. A REAL MAN HAS A FOCUS UPON THE WORD OF GOD

Now we see that his optimism was based on faith. If I say, “I know that things will work out all right,” that optimism must be based on faith, faith that a great God is in control.

IV. A REAL MAN IS REVERENT AND GRATEFUL

Paul took bread, and lifting up his eyes toward heaven, gave thanks in the presence of them all. They were not Christians, but this did not keep Paul from offering thanks. This is the spirit that every Christian should have as he approaches the things of God.

V.  A REAL MAN IS THE MASTER OF HIMSELF

Paul took over the mastery of the situation, because he was master of himself. Solomon said, “...he that ruleth his spirit (is better) than he that taketh a city” (Proverbs 16:32). How can one gain mastery of himself? Only through Jesus Christ. Men fail because they have no divine power to help them.

VI. A REAL MAN IS HELPFUL

Paul was a great help to all those on the ship. Many people live only for self, they never help anyone.
