LOSING JESUS

Text: Luke 2:41-52

I.  JOSEPH AND MARY HAD CHRIST WITH THEM

We may have Him, too, in every circumstance of life.

     A.  We may have Him in salvation. There is no reason for any man to be lost. “God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”

    B.  We may have Him in our daily walk. He promises not only to save us, but to be with us all the way from grace to glory. We read that “Enoch walked with God.”

    C.  We may have Him at the end of life. When you walk through the valley of the shadow of death you will want to feel His hand upon yours and you will want to hear Him whisper, “I am with you.’

II. THEY LOST CHRIST GOING ON WITHOUT HIM

They went out from the city and He tarried behind. That happens to so many people today. They go out into the world and sin and leave Jesus behind.

     A. We can lose touch with Him through indifference. If many church members spoke out as their lives do, they would say, “I don’t care.”

     B. We can lose touch with Him through neglect of duty. There are certain Christian duties which you need to perform. If you neglect them you lose touch with Jesus.

     C. We can lose touch with Him when we get too busy with other things. This is the cry of thousands today.

III. THEY LOOKED FOR CHRIST AMONG THEIR FRIENDS AND RELATIVES

It is a tragic thing when the world looks for Christ in us and cannot find Him. Jesus said “Suffer little children to come unto me. . . for of such is the kingdom of Heaven.” Blessed is the child who can find Jesus in his father and mother. Can your children find Him in you? God help us all to live so that others can see Jesus in me.
