Exodus 3:13–15 NLT
13 But Moses protested, “If I go to the people of Israel and tell them, ‘The God of your ancestors has sent me to you,’ they will ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what should I tell them?” 14 God replied to Moses, “I Am Who I Am. Say this to the people of Israel: I Am has sent me to you.” 15 God also said to Moses, “Say this to the people of Israel: Yahweh, the God of your ancestors—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you. Intro:

Back to Basics

Who Is God? Today we will look into Who Is God based on the names of God!
I want to talk to you today about Yahweh, the God who doesn't change. Everything in this world changes, Everything goes away, People and things are only here for a short time. But the God we worship does not change and is always the same. His love, grace, and mercy are always there and they never change.
Who is God? One of his names is Yahweh - the God who doesn't change.
As followers of Jesus Christ, we believe that Yahweh, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, is the only true God. He is the God who freed the Israelites from slavery in Egypt, He is the God that split the Red Sea, and He is the God that sent manna from heaven to feed them in the desert.
He is the God who sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins, and He is the God who offers us salvation by believing in Jesus Christ.
His Name is Yahweh
Yahweh has always been the same, and he always will be.
Malachi 3:6 NLT
6 “I am the Lord, and I do not change. That is why you descendants of Jacob are not already destroyed.
This means that God's nature is always the same, God’s character is always the same, and God’s love for us are always the same, no matter what happens to us no matter what we do. We can always count on Him to be true, even when we aren't, even when we fall short!
Have yo ever gotten your self in a situation that you didn’t know how to get our of? Have you ever had an addiction to a certain person, or a certain thing like drugs or alcohol? Have you ever been over you head in a financial bind! have you ever been so sick where the Doctors tell you they can’t do anymore! Let me remind you of Yahweh - The God that never changes ! “The I am God” He is the I am God before you got in your situation, He is the I am God during your situation and the I am God after your situation is over
His name is Yahweh - The God who never changes! In the book of Exodus the bible reads like this
Exodus 1:1–5 NLT
1 These are the names of the sons of Israel (that is, Jacob) who moved to Egypt with their father, each with his family: 2 Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, 3 Issachar, Zebulun, Benjamin, 4 Dan, Naphtali, Gad, and Asher. 5 In all, Jacob had seventy descendants in Egypt, including Joseph, who was already there.
All of God’s people are in Egypt now and things are going well!
Exodus 1:6 NLT
6 In time, Joseph and all of his brothers died, ending that entire generation.
Exodus 1:7 NKJV
7 But the children of Israel were fruitful and increased abundantly, multiplied and grew exceedingly mighty; and the land was filled with them.
But not everyone was happy about God’s people prospering!
Exodus 1:8–10 NLT
8 Eventually, a new king came to power in Egypt who knew nothing about Joseph or what he had done. 9 He said to his people, “Look, the people of Israel now outnumber us and are stronger than we are. 10 We must make a plan to keep them from growing even more. If we don’t, and if war breaks out, they will join our enemies and fight against us. Then they will escape from the country.”
This is the beginning of the slavery for Israel! So the main idea of the book of Exodus is about deliverance! God will deliver you
God had saved Israel before! God has gotten you and I out of situations before ! It's clear that God will save Israel at some point in the future. God will save Israel again, just like He did before, no matter how scary or hopeless the situation seems. God will rescue you and I just like he has before
God's people are always saved. When we are in trouble, he always came to our aid.
It's clear what this means for us: God will always save and deliver us. God cares about us and will help us no matter what... • a disease! sickness, pain, death, a broken heart, falling away from God, the loss of a loved one, being alone, feeling empty, being hungry or thirsty, being locked up, not having a job, being poor.
Even if the situation is scary and hopeless and we can't do anything about it, God will deliver and save us through it. Even scary things will work out for the best in the end. This is what God promises His people, those who love and follow Him with all their hearts.
Romans 8:28 NKJV
28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
God always delivers and saves His people, any of us who truly believe Him and who sincerely follow Him as the only living and true God. God always delivers us no matter...
• how bad the circumstances
• how terrible the sin and shame
• how severe the pain
• how frightening the news
God cares for us. God will deliver and save us from the very depths of sin and death, no matter how terrible they may be. But this is not all: God will also deliver us through all the crises and trials of life no matter how painful they may be.
The book of Exodus shows one of the best examples of how Yahweh doesn't change. Over 400 years, the Israelites had been slaves in Egypt. They prayed to God for help. God heard them, and he sent Moses to help them get out of Egypt. But when they left, Pharaoh changed his mind and sent his army after them.
Between the army and the Red Sea, the Israelites were trapped, and they started to panic. But God told Moses to put his hand over the water. When Moses did this, the water split, and the Israelites were able to cross on dry land. When the Egyptians tried to follow, the water closed in on them and killed the army.
This miracle showed the Israelites that God was strong and that they could count on Him to keep His promises. It also showed that Yahweh was always the same and that His power and love for His people would never change.
Psalm 139:1–2 NKJV
1 O Lord, You have searched me and known me. 2 You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off.
The book of Psalms gives another example of how God does not change. David writes in Psalm 139, "You have looked into me, Lord, so you know who I am. You know when I sit down and when I get up. You can read my mind from far away " (Psalm 139:1-2). David goes on to say that God was with him even before he was born, and that God knows everything about him.
This Psalm reminds us that God is always with us, even when things look the worst. He knows what we are thinking, what we are afraid of, and what we are going through, and He is always there to comfort and guide us. This is something that doesn't change about God : He is always there, always watching, and always ready to help. That’s Yahweh!
So, what does it mean to serve a God who doesn't change? First of all, it means that we can fully trust Him. We can count on His promises and know that He will keep them, just like He has always done
John 14:6 NKJV
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
In the New Testament, the life and teachings of Jesus Christ show us that God does not change. Jesus said, "I am the only way, the only truth, and the only life. I am the only way to get to the Father. This tells us that God’s plan for salvation hasn't changed and that Jesus is still the only way to be saved.
God doesn't change, and neither does His Son, Jesus .. He hasn't changed, and His death on the cross for our sins is just as powerful now as it was when He died for us.
Luke 15:4–7 NLT
4 “If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them gets lost, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others in the wilderness and go to search for the one that is lost until he finds it? 5 And when he has found it, he will joyfully carry it home on his shoulders. 6 When he arrives, he will call together his friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.’ 7 In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away!
Jesus also told us that no matter what we do, God will always love us. He will leave the 99 and go find the one that is lost!. When he finds it, he is happy and brings it back to the flock.
This tells us and shows us that God’s character doesn't change.
