Who am I?

Today we are starting a new series called who am I. Over the next three weeks we are going to look through and find what God says we are, and see what God thinks about us. Today we are going to talk about what am I worth.
Create something with Play doh, have them place a price on it

What am I worth?

Who Decides my worth?

So through that process you were able to create something and who is it that was able to determine the price of that item?
The creator.
In the same way the Bible tells us that we were all wonderfully made.
Psalm 139:13–14 (NIV)
13 For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
So we know through this passage that we have een created by God, and it doesnt just say that we were created but that we were knit together. I personally have never tried knitting, but what I do know is that it isnt a quick process, it takes time and thought. and in order to do it well, it takes skill.
I was curious how long it would take to knit a simple scarf, and I found that it would take between 4-6 hours to knit a scarf that is about 5 feet long. So it takes time to knit.
1 Corinthians 6:19–20 (NIV)
19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

What is our Price?

The price that God paid for us was the death of his one and only son, however it wasnt just His death but also his beating and torture as He hung on the cross.
Romans 5:6–8 (NIV)
6 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Now we see that not only does God decide what our worth is, but He also paid that value for you to be able to live with Him for eternity.
God not only has a price for us, and pays it. We are also given special gifts and talents.

Unique Gifts

1 Corinthians 12:4–6 (NIV)
4 There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. 5 There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. 6 There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.
This passage is speaking about our spiritual gifts which if you are a believer God has given you special abilities to be able to fulfill His purpose in your life.
Esther 4:14 (NIV)
14 For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”
This passage was actually Mordecai speaking to a girl named Esther, which if you dont know the story of Esther I encourage you to go and read it. Esther was an orphan who became the Queen of Persia, because she won a beauty pageant.
Through this time while she was Queen a man who hated the Jews named Haman devised a way to kill all the jews. Mordecai came to Esther to have her approach the King to save the Jewish people.
This was very dangerous for Esther as she could be killed if she entered the Kings presence without being summoned, and Mordecai responded with verse 14.

You are here for a reason

You in the same way have been created, and bought with a price, and you are here for a reason. You have the friends that you do for a reason. God has gifted you with your gifts and talents and abilities for a reason. It is our job to find what that reason is and serve Him.
