Ephesians 6:5 (ESV)
5 Bondservants, obey your earthly masters with fear and trembling, with a sincere heart, as you would Christ,
Work as worship.
bondservant is the translation of the Greek word doulos, which means “one who is subservient to, and entirely at the disposal of, his master; a slave.” Other translations use the word slave or servant.
Today, 167 countries still have slavery, affecting about 46 million people.
While over a hundred countries still have slavery, six countries have significantly high numbers:
India (18.4 million) China (3.4 million) Pakistan (2.1 million) Bangladesh (1.5 million) Uzbekistan (1.2 million) North Korea (1.1 million)
Slave labor.. sex trafficking…
1 Timothy 1:8-10 (ESV)
8 Now we know that the law is good, if one uses it lawfully, 9 understanding this, that the law is not laid down for the just but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who strike their fathers and mothers, for murderers, 10 the sexually immoral, men who practice homosexuality, enslavers, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine,
those who take someone captive in order to sell him into slavery
Exodus 21:16 (ESV)
16 “Whoever steals a man and sells him, and anyone found in possession of him, shall be put to death.
bond servant… what it is.. sold themselves to pay off a debt or a family member to pay off debt…
those of us who have the love heartbeat of Christ….
We have a debt to pay in which we can never pay back
I want to start with as you would Christ.
Our loves heartbeat should always beat for Jesus first Greatest commandment
Love God first without that love you cannot love others.
Colossians 3:2 (ESV)
2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.
Colossians 4:1 (ESV)
4 Masters, treat your bondservants justly and fairly, knowing that you also have a Master in heaven.

Obey (submit)
Ephesians 6:5 (ESV)
5 Bondservants, obey your earthly masters with fear and trembling, with a sincere heart, as you would Christ,
We submit through Fear and trembling
(Respect)
Respect is earned! Employers you cannot demand respect, you have to earn the trust of those who work for you.
We respect by Not having eye service
Ephesians 6:6 (ESV)
6 not by the way of eye-service, as people-pleasers,
Not talking bad about your boss behind their backs but supporting them
Like you would to Jesus
Can you imagine if we talked trash about Jesus? Water cooler…
1 Peter 2:20-24 (ESV)
20 For what credit is it if, when you sin and are beaten for it, you endure? But if when you do good and suffer for it you endure, this is a gracious thing in the sight of God. 21 For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps. 22 He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth. 23 When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly.24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.
Three things that we learn from Christ’s example
He used his workds wisely Vs 22-23
22 He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth. 23 When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten,
He didn’t talk trash
He Trusted God with the situation he was in
Vs 23b but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly.
He sacrificed his life for others
Vs 24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.
David, Joseph, Onesimus (Philemon)

Who are you when no ones looking. Do you only work hard when the boss is looking, or when they treat you well or do you work hard always. Putting forth your best effort- over nights at Lowes…
Mike Casey.. work ethic
That’s close enough.. Good enough for government work.
John 12:42-43 (ESV)
42 Nevertheless, many even of the authorities believed in him, but for fear of the Pharisees they did not confess it, so that they would not be put out of the synagogue; 43 for they loved the glory that comes from man more than the glory that comes from God.
To see work as worship employees should have a
Sincere heart
Ephesians 6:6b-7
but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart,7 rendering service with a good will as to the Lord and not to man,
This word is not your physical heart but your feelings
Sincere hearts mean Serving God
Doing the will of God from the heart
1 Thessalonians 4:9-12 (ESV)
9 Now concerning brotherly love you have no need for anyone to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love one another, 10 for that indeed is what you are doing to all the brothers throughout Macedonia. But we urge you, brothers, to do this more and more, 11 and to aspire to live quietly, and to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands, as we instructed you, 12 so that you may walk properly before outsiders and be dependent on no one.
Doing the will of God is Being bonded to the Lord ..
1 Corinthians 7:22 (ESV)
22 For he who was called in the Lord as a bondservant is a freedman of the Lord. Likewise he who was free when called is a bondservant of Christ.
Being Bonded to God is obedience to him
John 14:15 (ESV)
15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.
This is worship!!!
As to the Lord
Ephesians 6:8 (esv)

Whatever good is done is received back from God
Luke 16:10-12 (ESV)
10 “One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much. 11 If then you have not been faithful in the unrighteous wealth, who will entrust to you the true riches? 12 And if you have not been faithful in that which is another's, who will give you that which is your own?

Philemon 1:16 (ESV)
16 no longer as a bondservant[a] but more than a bondservant, as a beloved brother—especially to me, but how much more to you, both in the flesh and in the Lord.

Colossians 3:11 (ESV)
11 Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave,[a] free; but Christ is all, and in all.
It’s not wrong to punish an offense. It’s not wrong to fire a bad employee. Sometimes these are the very things that a person needs to wake up and get their life together.
As an employer who follows the heartbeat of God Our first duty is to do Gods will, Love those who work for us as ourselves.
Every decision made for the business is based on God’s standards not the worlds
Honor the Lord in all you do
Do not threaten
Just stop the empty threats or bullying. Video of the two guys running together reference back
Show No partiality
James 2:1 (ESV)
2 My brothers, show no partiality as you hold the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory.
Exercise as little power as possible
Philemon 1:17-22 (ESV)
17 So if you consider me your partner, receive him as you would receive me. 18 If he has wronged you at all, or owes you anything, charge that to my account. 19 I, Paul, write this with my own hand: I will repay it—to say nothing of your owing me even your own self. 20 Yes, brother, I want some benefit from you in the Lord. Refresh my heart in Christ.
Gods consideration
You are not more important than your employees
We are all servants..
Serve God,,
Galatians 5:13
(ESV)
13 For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.
The question today is who do you work for, who owns your life, soul, mind and body?
