Remember last week? We reviewed just how far gone Israel was, not only from God, but even from what we might consider common decency. May I give you a brief run down from the first 3 chapters.
Micah 1:5 “5 All this is for the rebellion of Jacob And for the sins of the house of Israel.
Micah 2:1-2 “1 Woe to those who scheme iniquity, Who work out evil on their beds! When morning comes, they do it, For it is in the power of their hands. 2 They covet fields and then seize them, And houses, and take them away. They rob a man and his house, A man and his inheritance.”
Micah 2:9 “9 “The women of My people you evict, Each one from her pleasant house. From her children you take My splendor forever.”
Micah 3:2-3 “2 “You who hate good and love evil, Who tear off their skin from them And their flesh from their bones, 3 Who eat the flesh of my people, Strip off their skin from them, Break their bones And chop them up as for the pot And as meat in a kettle.””
Micah 3:7 “7 The seers will be ashamed And the diviners will be embarrassed. Indeed, they will all cover their mouths Because there is no answer from God.”
Micah 3:9-11 “9 Now hear this, heads of the house of Jacob And rulers of the house of Israel, Who abhor justice And twist everything that is straight, 10 Who build Zion with bloodshed And Jerusalem with violent injustice. 11 Her leaders pronounce judgment for a bribe, Her priests instruct for a price And her prophets divine for money. Yet they lean on the Lord saying, “Is not the Lord in our midst? Calamity will not come upon us.””
In the wake of their deplorable evil, we implored you:
Don’t get swept away by the chaos of life, God knows you and in Him there is hope.
++There is no existence outside of God (Micah 1)
++There is no injustice unseen by God (Micah 2)
++There is no evil power unchecked by God (Micah 3)
Throughout those 3 thoughts there is a thread of reality that is the very foundation of our hope, in the midst of this chaotic world in which we live.
That hope is built upon the foundational reality that the just God of creation, who is full of mercy and grace, abounding in everlasting lovingkindness (chesed), at every moment, throughout every fragment of created time, sees all things and everything about you and always provides for you out of His gracious desire to rescue and reconcile you to Himself, and give you peace that can never be taken away.
Remember what Steve Herzig mentioned a few weeks ago about the message of Micah?
Yes, there are consequences for our sin, but praise the Lord that in the midst of sin and its consequences, there is hope in the One Who is coming. There are consequences for our sin, but there is hope in the attributes of the God who knows and wants to pardon us.
Remember Steve mentioned the Yiddish word, “Mench,” which over time became to mean, one who helps without being asked.
Rom. 5:8-10 says, “8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners [when we didn’t or wouldn’t have ever asked], Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him. 10 For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.”

Don’t get swept away by the chaos of life, God knows you and in Him there is rest forevermore (Micah 4-7).

Don’t get swept away by the chaos of life, God knows you and in Him there is rest forevermore (Micah 4-7).
++There is hope, found only with the true God (Micah 4)
++There is hope, seen only with the Chosen King (Micah 5)
++There is hope, experienced only in surrender to God (Micah 6)
++There is victory and safety, secured only through the power of God (Micah 7)
In the midst of the chaos of life and the pain of sin’s consequences, please know that God will not forsake you, for in God and God alone, there is rescue. God is always waiting, not matter who or where you are, for you to turn to Him and in Him, find rest and peace.
Last week I asked you to consider one thing in your life this week that makes you feel out of control, talk with your heavenly Father about whatever it is, thank Him that He’s sees and that you know it will not go unchecked by Him, and just surrender it to Him.
Maybe you still need to do that. This week takes us all one step further. Micah reminds us that all the things we struggle with have a solution, but that solution is not found within ourselves. That solution is not found within those who are around us or rule us. That solution is not found within this world and all it has to offer.
That solution is found only in the One true God who sent His Son so that He might rule, not by lording over us, but by dying for us.
That solution is found only in surrendering fully to the God who can free us, from chaos and even the consequences of our sin.
That solution is found only in the power of God who gives us victory and safety through His Son.

Don’t get swept away by the chaos of life, God knows you and in Him there is rest forevermore (Micah 4-7).

At every moment, not matter what you have done, are doing, or will do, God is longingly waiting for you to turn to Him. God will take care of you.
