Prison break
Acts 16:16 (ESV)
16 As we were going to the place of prayer, we were met by a slave girl who had a spirit of divination and brought her owners much gain by fortune-telling.
Headed to prayer
Most likely at 3pm.. daily time of prayer.. In life we all will experience a prison.. a trial.. a pain.. a loss
In these prisons we need to ask
Who is in control
Girl who had a spirit of divination
She was not under her on control
Deuteronomy 18:10-12 (ESV)
10 There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer 11 or a charmer or a medium or a necromancer or one who inquires of the dead, 12 for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord. And because of these abominations the Lord your God is driving them out before you.
Do not open a door to Satan
Galatians 5:19-21 (ESV)
19 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, 21 envy,drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
These are all a door to the prison of satans control on your life.
This prison leads to death….
Revelation 21:8 (ESV)
8 But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”
What the prison of this world really is
Owners much gain
Tears for fears lyrics
I can't stand this indecision
Married with a lack of vision
Say that you'll never, never, never, never need it
One headline, why believe it?
All for freedom and for pleasure
Nothing ever lasts forever
Everybody wants to rule the world
What leads us to this prison of satan, of sin. Is ourselves and our desire to be the god of our life we want to think we are in control but we are not, when. We submit to the trials and sins of this world we are giving satain control
In these prisons we need to look at
Who Surrounds Us
Acts 16:17-18a (ESV)
17 She followed Paul and us, crying out, “These men are servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to you the way of salvation.” 18 And this she kept doing for many days.
Followed Paul and Silas everywhere.. why
This might be different than we think.. this girl is walking around claiming these men are servants of the Most High God. She was equating her ministry to theirs.. her powers came from the same god as theirs.. she was lying.
This is why it is important for us to keep to scriptures
Sometimes the company we keep can lend false signals to the world that what we believe and what others believe is the same and that all these idea and ways of life lead people to heaven.. some things I see today…
Unconditional love means unconditional acceptance
Romans 2:5 (ESV)
But because of your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God's righteous judgment will be revealed.
We are hostile towards God
This is the beautiful picture of the cross
We are rejecting him when we do not live for him..
Revelation 2:10 (ESV)
10 Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and for ten days you will have tribulation. Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.
Our identity in self is just as important as our identity in Christ.
We live in a world where people ask us ouor identity where. Are we from, what race are we, what is my ancestry, what are my politics or even what is our gender. We are asked our identity.
So when you ask who am I? what is your answer.

9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
God is to loving to send someone to hell
Revelation 20:14-15 (ESV)
Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. 15 And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
Jesus Matthew 18:9 (ESV)
9 And if your eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into the hell[a] of fire.
Matthew 22 ..weeping and nashing of teeth..
In these prisons we only find
Freedom In giving Jesus control
Acts 16:18b (ESV)
Paul, having become greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” And it came out that very hour.
Same hour ..right away
Power in a Name

The spirit of divination obeyed.
Luther reminds us in his beautiful hymn,
“A Mighty Fortress is Our God”:
And though this world, with devils filled,
Should threaten to undo us,
We will not fear, for God hath willed
His truth to triumph through us:
The Prince of Darkness grim,
We tremble not for him;
His rage we can endure,
For lo! his doom is sure,
One little word shall fell him.
Know Christ is in control of your lifie.. this is great
Well, it is because you are promised forever Joy, peace and hope but here on earth….
When you are free from the world
And under Christ’s control

19 But when her owners saw that their hope of gain was gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them into the marketplace before the rulers. 20 And when they had brought them to the magistrates, they said, “These men are Jews, and they are disturbing our city. 21 They advocate customs that are not lawful for us as Romans to accept or practice
Standing for truth is hard..sometimes you have to look at a friend and say hey man Michael Jordan is the goat.. I know Lebron is about to be the most scoring player in the history of the nba..but nobody place defense…
We see it every day.. I am called a homophobe for my belief I am called a bigot for my beliefs, people claim I am trying to control them.. but all I am doing is reading Gods word?

Think of job and how his friends in the midst of one of the greatest trials a man could face.. blamed his sin…
When actually. God saw him as blameless
The. Lord must. Really. Hate you..
When you are free from the world
And under Christ’s control
Arrested for doing the right thing

Indeed, I can say with complete truthfulness that everything I have learned in my 75 years in this world, everything that has truly enhanced and enlightened my experience, has been through affliction and not through happiness.”

We are happy to put on the helmet of salvation but we are walking without the belt of truth , we have no breastplate of righteousness , no shoes of the gospel, and the sword spirit.. reading and being in Gods word is nowhere to be found…
