Churches and businesses in Boise, Idaho plan to repeat an event from 2004 in which a nonprofit coalition teamed up to pay $7,500 in parking tickets, including one for a woman who cried as a pastor signed a check covering her $555 fine. They designed the event known as the Grace Gift parable to demonstrate Gods’ gift of grace. Dennis Mansfield a former board member of Mission Media, a group that helped organize the events says their aim is not to encourage lawlessness. Mansfield said, “It’s an example of grace. Grace is unearned. It’s an unmerited favor. At this time of the season, we want to show God’s grace. In the process, we help families.”

Montie Ralstin, another participating pastor, explained his involvement saying, “We want to help people understand in a practical way that even though we’ve all made mistakes, God’s grace and forgiveness is received, just by asking.”

Ephesians 2:8-9 (CEV) “You were saved by faith in God, who treats us much better than we deserve. This is God's gift to you, and not anything you have done on your own. (9) It isn't something you have earned, so there is nothing you can brag about.”
