ADVICE DAD NEVER GAVE YOU

Ralph Sorter

There is a place in our heart that yearns for love and acceptance from our Dad.  Mothers naturally bond to their child, but fathers have to work at it.

How soon can you start guys?  While they are in the womb!  Put your face down next to them and talk in tender tones while stroking them through the envelope of their cocoon.  Let them get used to your voice and know that this manly voice is also tender.

Then start blessing them every day.  Every day read a passage of Scripture that teaches them about God.  Here are some suggestions.

·   God knew you before your conception. Jer. 1:4-5

·   He knew the exact time of your birth.  Acts 17:26

·   You are wonderfully made.  Ps. 139:14

·   God knit you in your mother’s womb.  Ps. 139:13

·   God delivered you on the day of your birth.  Ps. 71:6

·   You may not know God, but He knows everything about you.  Ps. 139:1

·   He made you in His image.  Gen. 1:27

·   You were not a mistake – all your days are written in God’s book.  Ps. 139:15-16

·   God desires to lavish His love on you.  1 Jn. 3:1

·   God’s plan for your future has always been filled with hope.  Jer. 29:11

·   God loves you with an everlasting love.  Jer. 31:3

·   God rejoices over you with singing.  Zeph. 3:17

·   Delight in God and He will give you the desires of your heart.  Ps. 37:4

·   God is able to do more than you could possibly imagine.  Eph. 3:20

·   God is there to comfort you in all your troubles.  2 Cor. 1:3-4

·   You are close to God’s heart, as close as a shepherd who carries a lamb next to his heart is.  Isa. 40:11

Guys, repeat these same blessings in their youth when they are able to understand these words!  Do this and you will find an incredible closeness.
