ADVICE DAD NEVER GAVE YOU

   I heard our pastor talked about me while I was gone this last Sunday.  I was given tickets for my whole family to see the Bronco – Raider game.  We wore our “colors” under our coats.  I hear Pastor Dennis said, “I’d rather be in hell fighting the Devil with a squirt gun.”  Walking into the stadium with your colors can be like walking through the gauntlet…but walking out of the stadium after your team has won is like walking through a funeral parlor.  There are times when silence is music to the ears. 

   Daniel found himself in an impossible situation – he was thrown into a den of lions.  Had it not been for God’s intervention, the large cats would have been purring with full bellies the next morning.  But as it was, Daniel used the empty bellies as a soft pillow that night.  Silent putty tats were music to his ears.

   Are you afraid to tackle the impossible?  Does fear keep you from doing things that could end with utter delight?  Perhaps you have been living in an unbearable situation but have not had the courage to say what needs to be said, or do what needs to be done.  Fear paralyzes.  Faith in an almighty God, coupled with action, results in getting to see the impossible unfold in front of your eyes.

  Marching around the walls of an enemy city and blowing trumpets hardly sounds like an effective battle strategy.  But it can be if the Commander who gives the order is able to do something you can’t.  Joshua believed that.  Can you imagine Joshua going to his army and telling them how they were going to defeat Jericho?  Here’s how Joshua was able to do that – his Commander preceded the orders with this encouragement: “Be strong and courageous.  Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”  Josh. 1:9  Need a wall to come tumbling down?
