PQ: Who is Jesus Christ?

UW: Facts

Topic: Who is Jesus?

Introduction:

Who is Jesus Christ? If you'd ask people at random as you meet them on the street, you would be surprised at the different answers you would receive.  To some Jesus Christ is only a historical figure; a Jewish rabbi who taught many years ago.  To some he is a demagogue, a little God.  To some he was the greatest teacher who ever lived.

What does the Bible say about Jesus Christ? The New Testament Book of Hebrews presents a very clear picture of just who Jesus is.  As we begin our study of this fascinating book of the New Testament, we will gain a new understanding of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Turn if you will, to Hebrews chapter one, vs. one

T.S.:   Notice several factors that will help us understand just who Jesus is …

Conclusion:

The following illustration is by J. R. Miller and it deals with the subject of surrendering one's self to Christ: "An architect complains that many of his clients come and ask him to design a house for them, only for him to discover that they have already designed it for themselves. What they really want is his sanction of their own plan, and the satisfaction of seeing him draw on paper what they have exactly in mind. It is in very much the same fashion that we often go to the Great Architect with our lives. We ask Him for wisdom and guidance, but we have already planned how we will build our fortunes and shape our course; and it is not His way we are seeking, but His approval of our way."
