Passover
Is celebrated by Jewish people as remembrance of God’s mercy on the night of the 10th and final plague which was death of all firstborn- human and animal in Egypt Exod 11:4-6 “4 Moses said, “Thus says the Lord, ‘About midnight I am going out into the midst of Egypt, 5 and all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of the Pharaoh who sits on his throne, even to the firstborn of the slave girl who is behind the millstones; all the firstborn of the cattle as well. 6 ‘Moreover, there shall be a great cry in all the land of Egypt, such as there has not been before and such as shall never be again.”
Israel had to follow :Moses’ instructions. On the night of the plague, the Israelites were instructed to stay in their homes after slaughtering a lamb and placing its blood on the lintel and doorposts of their houses (Exod 12:7, 21–22).
Lambs were being brought to the Temple for Slaughter it is said as many as 250,00 were killed.
The day of preparation/Before Sabbath Jesus died at 3pm (Friday)

1 But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared.
2 And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb,
3 but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.
v1 They are identified in v10
v2 In Mark’s account, the women are concerned about moving the Stone.
Mark 16:3 “3 They were saying to one another, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance of the tomb?””

v4b The men are identified in v23 saying that they had also seen a vision of angels
These women had heard Jesus speak about what was to come. He told them what to expect, however as so often happens. When adversity strikes we forget.
They thought Jesus to be dead.
They are rebuked by angels “you don’t look for the living in a graveyard. “

6 “He is not here, but He has risen. Remember how He spoke to you while He was still in Galilee,
7 saying that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.”
matt 17:22-23 “22 And while they were gathering together in Galilee, Jesus said to them, “The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men; 23 and they will kill Him, and He will be raised on the third day.” And they were deeply grieved.”

It wasn’t so much that it made sense but it was proof that jogged there memory.
It’s not until they remember the Lord’s teaching about the empty tomb that their lives change. Nothing could be more important in the Christian life than remembering the gospel. One of our great challenges as Christians is keeping the truth of our Lord uppermost in our minds. We leak. We forget. We wander and stray. But if we keep our feet in the path of his teaching, then we’ll never be overcome in times of trouble and sorrow. We will be the only people rejoicing even in the face of death if we keep our minds fixed on his gospel!

Why?
Their faith was so fragile.
12 But Peter got up and ran to the tomb; stooping and looking in, he *saw the linen wrappings only; and he went away to his home, marveling at what had happened.
