Introduction: The scripture opens up with Jesus carrying the cross up the road to golgotha, weighted down by heaviness that he bears. A soldier inpatient, calous and uncaring, seizes Simon and tells him to bear the cross that Jesus was holding. My question is what are you willing to bear.

    • Level 2: sometimes bearing the cross is a volunteer position, you chose to follow God and so you bear the cross of disciplship and then their is a cross to bear that you neither asked for or volunteer for it the cross of misunderstanding, the cross of misfortune the cross that bears all sorts of circumstances and situations, these are the crosses that I want to speak today of , you see I looked at this episode in scripture Simon standing on the side line minding his self business when out of no where a soldier who is unwilling to bare in patience Jesus carrying what he himself had placed upon him ( I am talking about the soldier, I am talking about you and I, Jesus did not have to carry that cross, but because he loved us so, he was beaten , ridiculed and disrespected, he was misunderstood and on top of that he is God, the almighty, all powerful, all knowing and yet he carried that cross. Not because he had done anything wrong, not that he had sinnned No he was without sin and without blemish, he had not talked anyone the wrong way( he knew how to talk to people) he did not give attitude, he did not ignore he had no personality clashes with any one and yet he carried the cross for you and I the weight of the cross was much for him to bear, because upon that cross was the sins of the world, yours and mines, those of my past, present and even my future and yet Jesus carried it all, the wieght of this world even all that is going on now with us living in a nation that is fillled with greed and uncaring, only taking and never giving yes this world of selfish ambitions and desires that only support a few and leave out a majority not to mention the minority.
