For they did not yet understand the Scripture that he had to rise from the dead.
The disciples that have been with Jesus with 3 years did not understand that he had to rise for the dead. Maybe they were thinking that Jesus was speaking in parable, when he predicted that he must rise for the death.
But after that they believed, they got the fait, and the faith give them hope, and the hope is the secret of the Christians.

1. Before Christ

We have been Cristian for how many years and did not understand that Christ must rise from the death.
Let’s explain the this, look the attitude of this disciples, before the resurrection of Christ.

They were so worried about the earthly things, and they were so afraid to death.

But after the resurrection they were any longer afraid to death, and so detach for early things.
Same way in our lives must be one before and one after resurrection.
And we must give this hope to this word.

The world needs the hope of the resurrection.

In this word we need urgent make the hope of the resurrection of Christ the key of our life, as the Saint Paul, so that you may not suffer like the rest, who have no hope[1]
Yes, the people on the word suffer, an they bigger suffering is because they do not have hope, they hope ends in this life.
What happen during the pandemic they were so afraid because, they do not have hope in the life coming.
Why people is so worried by the climate change, because they hope is only in this life.
Because for them life if the end, they do no hope because they do no believe.

The church needs the hope of the resurrection.

Many Cristian as so worried, for the issues on the Church, must remember that is Christ who is leading the Church.
"The Christian knows that history is already saved, and the end will be positive. But we do not know through what facts and twists and turns we will reach that great final outcome. We know that the 'powers of hell' will not prevail over the Church, but we do not know under what conditions this will happen."
We cannot fall in the big temptation of the Hebrew: Is God still with us?

But we need also the hope in our lives.

"We have been given hope, a reliable hope, thanks to which we can face our present: the present, even if it is a tiring present, can be lived and accepted if it leads to a goal, if we can be sure of this goal and if this goal is so great that it justifies the effort of the path." Benedict XVI
Victor Franck, those who waited were those who survived

How to increase and practices the hope.

The first is prayer.

"When no one listens to me anymore, God still hears me. (...) If there is no one who can help me (...) He can help me." If I am relegated to extreme loneliness...; The one who prays is never totally alone.

The suffering.

Suffering is a place of learning hope. "Everything possible should certainly be done to reduce suffering", but "what heals man is not to avoid suffering (...) but the ability to accept the tribulation, to mature in it and to find meaning in it through union with Christ, who suffered with infinite love.

Mother of Hope

The real stars of our lives are people who have known how to live righteously. They are lights of hope. Jesus Christ is certainly the light par excellence, the sun that shines on all the darkness of history. But to reach Him we also need nearby lights, people who give light reflecting the light of Christ, thus offering guidance for our journey.
And who better than Mary could be for us a star of hope, she who with her "yes" opened the door of our world to God himself, that is, she brought hope to the world.
We cannot be pessimistic; Christ is risen and Mary promise at the end my immaculate heart will be triumph.
