Five Ways to Make Your Dad Happy

24The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice; he who begets a wise son will be glad in him. 25Let your father and mother be glad; let her who bore you rejoice. Proverbs 23:24-25

[LISTEN] to Your Dad’s Instructions.

Listen, children, to a father’s instruction, and be attentive, that you may gain insight; 2 for I give you good precepts: do not forsake my teaching.3 When I was a son with my father, tender, and my mother’s favorite, 4 he taught me, and said to me, “Let your heart hold fast my words; keep my commandments, and live. 5 Get wisdom; get insight: do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth. Proverbs 4:1-5

[TAKE CARE] Of What Your Dad Gives You.

11 Then Jesus said, “There was a man who had two sons. 12 The younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the share of the property that will belong to me.’ So he divided his property between them. 13 A few days later the younger son gathered all he had and traveled to a distant country, and there he squandered his property in dissolute living. Luke 15:11-13

[SEEK] Your Dad’s Spiritual Companionship.

6 Keep these words that I am commanding you today in your heart. 7 Recite them to your children and talk about them when you are at home and when you are away, when you lie down and when you rise. Deuteronomy 6:6-7

[HONOR] Your Dad’s Role in Your Family.

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 “Honor your father and mother”—this is the first commandment with a promise: 3 “so that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.” Ephesians 6:1-3

[DEVELOP] A Positive Attitude Towards Your Dad’s Efforts To Raise You.

9 Moreover, we had human fathers to discipline us, and we respected them. Should we not be even more willing to be subject to the Father of spirits and live? 10 For they disciplined us for a short time as seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share his holiness. 11 Now, discipline always seems painful rather than pleasant at the time, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. Hebrews 12:9-11
