Offerings With Which You Can Please God—Hebrews 13:15-17

15 Through him, then, let us continually offer a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that confess his name. 16 Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God. 17 Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls and will give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with sighing—for that would be harmful to you. Hebrews 13:15-17

1.      You can Please God By Offering the [FRUIT OF YOUR LIPS] To Him. Vs 15

170 Let my supplication come before you; deliver me according to your promise. 171 My lips will pour forth praise, because you teach me your statutes. Psalms 119:170-171

2.      You can Please God By Offering Your [GOOD DEEDS] To Others. Vs 16

24 And let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good deeds, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Hebrews 10:24-25

3.      You can Please God By Offering Your [LOVING OBEDIENCE] To Our Leadership. Vs 17

12 But we appeal to you, brothers and sisters, to respect those who labor among you, and have charge of you in the Lord and admonish you; 13 esteem them very highly in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves. 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13

Elder Appointments December 10th, 2006

I left you behind in Crete for this reason, so that you should put in order what remained to be done, and should appoint elders in every town, as I directed you. Titus 1:5

Dear Family, have you by seeking the guidance of God’s gracious wisdom selected these two men to join the other elders of this family? (Response: We Have) They now stand before you ready to serve your congregational needs, activities, and God given mission. Do you wish for them to be set aside to help take charge of this flock as the elders did over the churches of the apostolic age? (Response: We do) Will you promise to honor, encourage, and obey them in all things consistent with the Word of God, and zealously aid them in the discharge of their duties and responsibilities? (Response: We will)

Bryan and Mark have you prayerfully considered the responsibilities and obligations, which the office of Bishop calls you to fulfill and carry out? (Response: We have) Do you, with a deep appreciation of these responsibilities and obligations, accept the spiritual role of a bishop and willingly join the other overseers of this spiritual family? (Response: We do) Will you promise that, always seeking God’s help, you will faithfully perform the duties of a pastor of God’s flock, studiously endeavoring to learn and to do the things that will make for spiritual growth, peace, and the purity of this family over which you are called to help shepherd? (Response: We will)

In that, you have been accepted by the spiritual family of this congregation that assembles in this place and have declared your willingness to accept this office, and have promised to faithfully perform it duties you are now formally set aside and declared Elders of the Vaughn Hill family.

Will the other Elders please join Mark and Bryan? George will you come pray for God’s blessings upon our new Eldership?

Bryan and then Mark have a few words for us.
