AFFAIR-PROOFING YOUR MARRIAGE #II

You shall not commit adultery. Exodus 20:14

THE LAST THREE STEPS OF PREVENTATIVE CARE FOR YOUR MARRIAGE

1.  MAKE A COMMITMENT TO GOD’S STANDARDS! 2 Peter 2:3-4

2.  MAGNIFY THE CONSEQUENCES ! Proverbs 6:32-35

3.  MAINTAIN MY [MARRIAGE] ! Malachi 2:14-16

4.  MANAGE MY [MIND]

12 Blessed is anyone who endures temptation. Such a one has stood the test and will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him. 13 No one, when tempted, should say, “I am being tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil and he himself tempts no one. 14 But one is tempted by one’s own desire, being lured and enticed by it; 15 then, when that desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin, and that sin, when it is fully grown, gives birth to death. James 1:12-15

5.  MAINTAIN PROPER [RELATIONSHIPS]

1 Do not speak harshly to an older man, but speak to him as to a father, to younger men as brothers, to older women as mothers, to younger women as sisters—with absolute purity. 1 Timothy 5:1-2

6.  MINIMIZE THE [OPPORTUNITY]

5Be sure of this, that no fornicator or impure person, or one who is greedy (that is, an idolater), has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes on those who are disobedient. Therefore do not be associated with them. Ephesians 5:5-7

WHAT TO DO!

It happened, late one afternoon, when David rose from his couch and was walking about on the roof of the king’s house, that he saw from the roof a woman bathing; the woman was very beautiful. 2 Sam 11:2

1.       [ACKNOWLEDGE] the Sin.

3For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. 4Against you, you alone, have I sinned, and done what is evil in your sight, so that you are justified in your sentence and blameless when you pass judgment. Psalms 51:3-4

2.      [END] the Relationship.

10 Jesus straightened up and said to her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” 11 She said, “No one, sir.” And Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you. Go your way, and from now on do not sin again. John 8:10-11

3.      [TRUST] Gods Grace.

9Do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived! Fornicators, idolaters, adulterers, male prostitutes, sodomites, thieves, the greedy, drunkards, revilers, robbers—none of these will inherit the kingdom of God. And this is what some of you used to be. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God. 1 Corinthians 6:9-11
