Passage: Acts 13:13-43

Question #1 Paul reveals that the coming of Jesus is the high point of history by tracing God’s activity in the Old Testament all the way through Egypt, the desert David’s reign…to his ancestors and to Jesus.  The culmination was Jesus’ death at the hands of the unseeing/condemning Jews and his subsequent death and resurrection.

Question #2 In resurrecting Jesus and the disciples, who had seen him, traveled with Him and lived with Him, became witnesses to the Jews.. Jesus’ resurrection was the fulfillment of God’s promises to the Jews.  God has fulfilled, in a way that could not be imagined beforehand, the holy and sure blessing promised to David.  Jesus did not see decay…He was raised from the dead, every cell in His body exploding in life.  And ultimately the forgiveness for sins has been proffered to the Jews  - proclaimed by His witnesses…those who accept/believe/repent are justified, not by the law, but by Christ’s payment for the infraction.

Notes: I am struck by the fact that the listeners invited Paul to speak further on the subject… a very good thing for those truly desiring to meet our living and loving God.  Yet I am sorrowed that many are content to halt the progression at the ear-tickling stage.  Not desiring the fullness of relationship that will maintain the impetus that they feel or are thinking about.  Lord, please give me the ability to spur all that are appointed to believe past the line of salvation – as early in life as is possible.
