Discipled By Jesus

Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,

for I am gentle and humble in heart,

and you will find rest for your souls. Matthew 11:29

Jesus Disciples Me If…..

·         I Am [attentive] To Scripture

1We must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. 2For if the message spoken by angels was binding, and every violation and disobedience received its just punishment, 3how shall we escape if we ignore such a great salvation? This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard him. Hebrews 2:1-3

·         I Am [absorbing] The Scripture

10I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. 11I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. 12Praise be to you, O Lord; teach me your decrees. 13With my lips I recount all the laws that come from your mouth. 14I rejoice in following your statutes as one rejoices in great riches. 15I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways. 16I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word. Psalm 119:10-16

·         I am [acting] from Scripture

12Speak and act as those who are going to be judged by the law that gives freedom, 13because judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment! 14What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? 15Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. 16If one of you says to him, “Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? 17In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. James 2:12-17

What Does Learning from Jesus In Scripture Mean For Me?

He said to them, “Therefore every student of the Scripture who has been discipled for the kingdom of heaven is like the owner of a house who brings out of his storeroom old as well as new treasures.Matthew 13:52

It Means I Am Bringing Out The Treasure of. . . . .
