God’s Covenant with Abram

c. The LORD answers, a promise of your very own son vs. 4-6

The Making of the Covenant

Gideon wanted confirmation when he was called. In Judges 6:17 he said:
Judges 6:17 ESV
17 And he said to him, “If now I have found favor in your eyes, then show me a sign that it is you who speak with me.

A Deep Sleep

a. Abram in darkness
b. God gives Abram assurance of His promises vs. 12-16
Exodus 6:6 ESV

Amos 2:9 ESV
9 “Yet it was I who destroyed the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars and who was as strong as the oaks; I destroyed his fruit above and his roots beneath.

The Covenant was Set

a. God was faithful! God is faithful
The Israelites confess their sins and remember the promise, the covenant. In Nehemiah 9, the people said:
Nehemiah 9:8 ESV
8 You found his heart faithful before you, and made with him the covenant to give to his offspring the land of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Perizzite, the Jebusite, and the Girgashite. And you have kept your promise, for you are righteous.

A Covenant is a Strong Thing. Where does YOUR COVENANT lay?
